Great job Regions 3 and 4! In my opinion the 2 top teams played for the championship and it was a very good game. Many thanks to Pop, his staff, and UNCG.

    Region 5???

Chelsea Hurt??? Who is she? I don't see a girl by that name on Region 5's roster. I did see them play a very talented team and lose in a hard fought game. The team that won got 1 run off of the starter for region 5 and 3 runs off of the second pitcher. Both region 5 pitchers looked very good to me, but the better team won in my humble opinion. In fact the team that won that game went on to win it all.

region 3 and 4 were my pitching favorites not to mention some good hitters on each squad.

enjoyed Maness, Davenport, Shotwell and this young lady:

Samantha Melton,R4, 2009, P/OF/Hitter, Fayetteville Christian....my Regional tournament MVP; PITCH this past weekend. and to those of you who pulled double duty......a Special Shoutout.

    Anna Maness,RHP,09, SWR,.....WORKS!

Brittany Shotwell, LHP,09,Person, with a stick!

Amanda Davenport, RHP,08,WJohnston, great stuff gal!!

    Orr
    Melton
    Maness
    Shotwell
    Davenport

    C. Leonard....missed her totally at UNC-G, as well as some other Good pitchers in NC who didnt participant for whatever..edit: Reason. things happen.

Great 4 days of NC softball played and thanks to all who came up, down or over to Greensboro for it all!

Nice to see all the HS Coaches who came in support for their players, program and the game!!!

I thought 9 players were in each line-up/game

I whole heartedly agree that these fine ladies pitched there ever lovin' tales off. Next year maybe Pop will let them play by themselves! I watched most all of the games. NO PITCHER DOMINATED PERIOD. The hitters and fielders made the difference in 95% of the games. Sorry to bust the pitcher bubble folks. This is still a team game.

That starter was Chelsea Leonard who is nursing an injury suffered prior to the Games. It definately affected her pitching for the weekend. But thats OK. Some time off to get it healed and she'll be back to her normal self. Anna Maness took up the slack and was superb. She is absolutely no "second pitcher".

By the way, thats the 2A state champ and the 3A state champ on the same team! What a combo!

I didn't say she was a 'second pitcher' the way you are referring to it. She was the second pitcher in the game for Region 5...that is all I was saying.

Hard fought battle....great job by all...

    Congrats to coach Shotwell's squad....
He prepared them well...the kids responded
to the challenge...what a great way to win...
come from behind in the bottom of the 6th, and hold on.

Congrats also to the region 4 kids... Most of them will
play in this game agian.....That pitching staff is second to none...

Maybe next year, stage this like the NCAA D1 finals...
8 teams, 2 pools... 1 winner comes forward...
Pool winners go 2 out of 3....

just as though, but what I know.?
