All-Star College Showcase Registration is Open

The Southern Star All-Star Showcase on the campus of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA will be held on January 12-13, 2013. This is the 8th annual event at GSU. All players of high school playing age are eligible to attend.

This is an individual showcase and is not for teams or for players who are already committed. It is for individuals players seeking more college exposure or an opportunity to gain college exposure. Players are assigned groups and play 4 simulated games in the GSU stadium and on the adjacent fields.

Activites begin in the afternoon of the 12th and the morning of the 13th. Those with winter school obligations such as basketball can request to be on a Sunday Only team.

For those interested, Coach Annie Smith and the Lady Eagle Softball team will hold their annual softball camp the morning of January 12th and it is seperate from and not associated with the Southern Star. For more information on that camp, please go to the Georgia Southern Athletic web site.

All-star events are not perfect for every player. If you feel you get plenty of exposure from your travel team and do not need added exposure, then you do not need to attend. But if you feel the opportunity to play in front of 15-20 college coaches might help your effort to play at the next level, then you should consider attending. Each year this event has helped a lot of players, but no showcase is 100% successful for every player. The exact makeup of college coaches is determined each event by the talent involved and the level of interest they generate from the college coaches through their contact. The Southern Star staff will do everything possible to make it a great event for all those involved. This event has helped a lot of players find colleges and some college coaches find players over the past 8 years. But it is not perfect.
