American Legion age rules

I have heard the age rules for Jr and Sr American Legion will change next year. Does anyone know if this is true and if it is what exact dates will be used to determine ages.

 

i hope they start allowing 52 year olds to play ...

 

I have also heard that this is the last year for 19 yr.olds to be able to play legion, but have seen nothing in writing.

I will be interested to see if cutting out 19 yr.olds will have any affect on Junior legion teams. I mean other than a few more Juniors being able to play on the Senior team, hopefully there won't be drastic affects to where some Junior teams shut down.

 

I've been told by my area director that 19 year olds will be allowed to play next year (2009). They'll be another vote in the future to determine what happens after that.

 

All I can say is that it was told at the Area III meeting back in April that this would be the last year for college kids, but again I haven't seen anything in writing.

I have heard both, but regarless, what date do they use to determine age. I have heard Aug 1, and Jan 1.
