Stanly Co. came to town and did what they had to do. They hit the ball well. They played outstanding defense and got 9 complete shutout innings from their starter McIntyre, who just so happened to be the pitcher of record in the 14-6 blowout at the hands of this same Mooresville team on Sunday. Talk about stepping up for your team. Mooresville starter Tim Sullivan had a decent outing and was lifted after 7 innings and surrendering 8 runs. The Mooresville bats could get nothing going and gathered but 6 hits on the night. This brings a close to the 2005 season for Gresham-Baker Post 66 American Legion baseball.

It also brings to a close the playing career for one Caleb Diggs, my son. Caleb played left field and started every game for Post 66 for the last two seasons. He hit over .300 for the 2005 season and once flirted with the .500 mark before a late season swoon climbed all over him. As a defensive back for Mooresville, Caleb tied the single season school record for interceptions with 9 and had the record outright until a penalty flag thrown in a playoff game at Piedmont took it away. I must admit that its hard on me and the wife as Caleb is the last of our children to graduate high school and head off to find their place in this life. I feel truly blessed to have been his biggest fan. I may check with you guys from time to time, especially on the football forum as I will continue to film for the Blue Devils. Yall take care. VI...you are what has made TBR Preps a fun place to come to. Although I continue to enjoy all your posts in all the forums, what makes this place special for me is it has allowed me to follow most of our member's sons all through their HS career; Kids that I wouldn't have known except through the paper or word of mouth. Caleb is an extraordinary athlete that will be successful in whatever direction his path leads. I know you are proud...as I am proud to have you on board (TBR).

You may think you will be leaving TBR Prep baseball...but you won't....

Thanks again Braves, LNF and tj........I'll still be in and out of here because this IS the best preps board around and its because of people like you.

I thought Braves would run me off because of that 7 lb. bass Tyler Lackey caught from second base at Mooresville a couple of years ago (hehe)......its a long story, but we sure as heck did'nt have any baseball scores to post at the time.

I was too busy fishing at Lake David Butler to see that bass he caught, but I did see him pull in a few fish from the mound when he pitched against West Rowan that year.

Tyler is/was a heck of a pitcher !!!

ROWAN COUNTY OUT???

I heard through the "grapevine" today that Rowan County will have to forfeit the rest of the season for an illegal player?

ANYONE heard about this?

If not maybe its jsut a rumore but if its true than im sure Salisbury Post will have a GREAT article on this.:banginghe

Lexington beat Mocksville tonight and will recieve a bye in the next round since Rowan County was thrown out of the playoffs for having an illegal player.

Kesse went the distance for Concord.He also threw 4 innings monday night in a rained out game.That's 13 innings in just 48 hours.

Legion rules state no pitcher shall throw over 12 innings in an 72 hour period.Not sure if the 4 innings pitched monday night count since the game was rained out.They were still talking about this when I left the park.If it stands then Concord leads the series 2-1.
