    Caldwell 7
    Cherryville 5

Caldwell looked a little rusty after a few days off and made several errors in the game. Caldwell fell behind 5-0 early and fought back to take the lead on a Russle Reid 3 run homer with 2 outs in the 7th inning. Winning pitcher was Alex Fairwether. I think all the runs against him were unearned. Good game tonight typical Caldwell- Cherryville game, huge crowd, had to be well over 1000 people at deal stadium

Pineville's bats were silent tonight...hats off to Josh Drewery, he pitched a great game. Pineville's pitching was solid also...several key errors in the field was the difference in the ball game...all Shelby runs were unearned.[IMG]

Caldwell and Cherryville both looked rusty on defense. All 5 of Cherryville's runs were unearned. Only 3 of Caldwell's runs were earned. I believe both team's shortstops committed 3 errors each.

On a positive note for Caldwell, Alex Fairweather continues to pitch brilliantly and has now pitched 62 and two-thirds innings on the year and has only given up a total of 3 earned runs for an overall era = 0.43.

Caldwell trailed 5 - 0 going into the bottom of the 5th inning with 2 outs and rallied to score 4 runs. I believe it was the bottom of the 7th inning with 2 outs once again that Caldwell took the lead on a 3 run deep homer by cleanup hitter Russell Reid. This is Russell's 5th season with Post 29 and he is definitely the team leader who refuses to let his team lose.
