i wish north carolina would go back playing a 7 games series for state champship like before 2000. the kannapolis , caldwell the winners bracket final was a high scoring game because both team where using there 3 best pitchers, in that game. in a 7 games series both teams could sure there best 2 starters 2 games. you would know who is the best more in a 7 game series. each team in each area could play each other 1 game during the regular season and be seated 1 thur 16. 1 plays 16 . 2 plays 15 and so on. the team could be reseated after each round of the playoffs. when there is only 2 teams left in each erea. the highest seated team in erea 1 plays lowest seated team in erea 2 and highest seated team in erea 2 plays lowest seated team in erea 1, same thing in erea 3 and 4. then east and west when there are only 4 teams left ,.2 from west and 2 from east. if more than one of the same seat from the east or west go the final 4 ,they would need to have a tie breaker to determite the higher seated team.

I don't know where you get the pitching from. Looking at this weeks tournament as well as 2003 - everybody outside the winner's bracket is shot in the pitching dept. If you had a e & w bracket playin, 3-5 days in between and a 5 game series that might work...

but with an 18 person roster limit... I don't think a 7 game series would be too pretty. college rosters are above 30. an 18 man roster can take 3-4 games a week if you have 6 or so pitcher only's. As an example, watching poulk and chisenhall throw yesterday from short and 3rd in the 1st game... you could see a significant decline in their arm strength...

    State Tournament

Seems to me that the athletes and teams would be better served by eliminating the seeding games. I would suggest best record is highest seed. To have a 5 game meaningless series the week before the State tournament, is a little ridiculous. At least with that week, you could rest some guys and get them healthy.

why not just have 4 teams in tournament?

THE TEAM WITH BEST RECORD IN EREA 4 COULD PLAY THE TEAM WITH LOWER RECORD IN EREA 3 AND THE TEAM WITH BEST REC0RD IN EREA 3 COULD PLAY THE TEAM WITH LOWER RECORD IN ERA 4 AND SAME IN EREA'S 1 AND 2. this would take place of the seeding series

    7 game series

a team would need less pitching in a 7 game series, than in the tournament under the current system. teams would only have to play one game per day, under the current system. moorehead city had to play 2 game on monday and will have to play 2 more today ( tuesday) to win the tournament.

Hey...in my eyes it ain't broke! I like the present format. Heck...it's a double elim spread out over 5 days. Any team that does not develop 4 starters & a bull pen during the regular season & early playoff rounds does not deserve to win the State Title.

Our Lexington team (runner-up last year) used 2 rising sophmores & a Junior as 3 of our 5 starters! But they got the ball in May, June, & early July. We lost several games early & finished 5th in our League, but by playoff time these boys had become young men & helped carry us. Team effort...that's what Legion ball requires.
