Gaston Braves take 2 this weekend

The Gaston Braves beat Union Co. 10-4 Saturday night at SPHS.

Leading Hitters: GB, Palmer and Moore.

Last night the Braves won 3-2 over Newell at SPHS.

Evan Jonas threw a great game as he struck out 15 and had a NO hitter through 8 2/3 inn.- Yes he was one out away from a 9 inn. No hitter.
**He actually struck out Tyler Kirkpatrick for the last out of the game which was a dropped 3rd strike. It looked like the Braves catcher tagged the runner but the ump said he did not and the No hitter was extended to the next batter. Of course the next guy got a hit and ended the no-no bid. It was a shame for a great pitcher and kid like Jonas to lose the no-no this way. He threw a gem and moved to 3-0 on the season.

The Braves move to 12-1 in the Area IV East divison and 14-1 overall.

The Braves play at Charlotte 262 tonight at 7 at Myers Park HS.

 

Roxboro Post 138 lost to Durham Post 7 last night 19-11. Both teams hit the ball very well. Post 138 hit it early and then fell off and Post 7 hit it all night long. Post 7 had 6 homeruns. I don't have the scoresheet available at the present time but I believe every player on both teams had at least one hit.

If Durham's pitching can keep them close they may be one of the best offensive teams in legion baseball this year.

Roxboro Post 138 is 5-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

you have only played 2 conf. games, have a lot been rained out? When does regular season end, and when does playoffs start?
