Shelby swept a double header over Toronto Ohio.

Game one was 6-0. Seth Canipe, Andrew White, and Eric Shuford combined for a 1 hitter. Josh Drewery, Dusty Quattlebaum, Garrett Alexander, and Dustin Garver all had 2 hits each.

Game two was 17-7. Josh Brooks had a grand slam and Brain Greene got the win.

Shelby is 10-4 on the year.

    Kannapolis-15 over Concord-5

    WP- Ketner (3-0)
    HR's- Query 2 tonight (5 for season), Wright added 1 (his 1st)

Also want to mention that after not picking up a bat all year while pitching for Catawba College, Blake Ketner contributed a 3/3 night at the plate with 2 walks. Great night Blake.

Kannapolis as a team now has had 10 different players hit homeruns and has 27 for the season,,, now 10-1 in league (12-3 overall). Game tomorrow night against a very good Mooresville team.

    Gaston 5
    Pineville 4

the game was called in the 6th inning, gaston gets credited with a win. gaston had 5 unearned runs as pineville's defense just collapses today looking worse than i've ever seen them. pineville had men on 1st and 2nd with 1 out before the game was called due to lightning. oh well thats baseball, the 2 teams meet again wed. at gaston

Gaston Braves over Pineville 337 in shortened 6 inn. game

Gaston won 5-4 over Pineville 337 last night 5-4 in a game called for lightening after 6 inn. It was a shame this game was called after 6 innings as both teams were emotionally driven to win this ball game.

Gaston improves to 9-1 in the Area IV East and 11-1 overall.

    W-Evan Jonas (2-0)
    L-Jared Bard

*Both teams hit the ball fairly well as each team had 11 hits a piece through 6 inn.

Gaston and Pineville play again Wed. at 7 @ SPHS.

    The other side

Looking back at the game from the other perspective, the gaston braves also committed two costly errors. There was also a routine fly ball to right in which the right fielder tripped and fell down, the scorer ruled it a hit as which he should have. It still should have been caught. They also had some key base running blunders. Anyway, my point is that I felt neither team played very well. But, there was a lot of energy on the field. I look forward to seeing these two teams match up again wed. Coaches from both teams really wanted to finish this game. I don't think that I would consider this "baseball" as much as mother nature. The batter also had a 1-2 count on him when the game was called. I would venture to say that there were two solid teams on the field. Not one in which the game was sloppy on one side which gave the other team a chance to win a rain shortened game.

    Mooresville-16 over Kannapolis-12

I guess giving up 16 runs says enough. Mooresville just has Kannapolis' number this year. Kannapolis falls to 10-2 in the league into a tie for 1st place with Stanly County, while Mooresville improves to 6-6.

Kannapolis off now til Tuesday's big game with Rowan County at Fieldcrest Cannon.
