From Sunday, Mooresville @ Stanly Co.

    Stanly Co. 13
    Mooresville 1 :banginghe

.......either Stanly Co.(2 HR's including a grand slam) is really good this year or we just had a bad game (5 errors). I think its a little of both. Mooresville is now 2-1 in league play (7-7 overall) with Mocksville comming to town this evening at 7pm........and I KNOW that they are strong. Mooresville and Mocksville have split a pair of games already this season.

Mocksville and South Rowan are the best teams that I've seen thus far. Both are strong on the hill and can hit with consistency. Lexington can stroke the ball but seemed to lack the pitching needed to make a strong run. They are better than last season for sure. Stanly Co. looked awesome but we only saw one pitcher so I have no clue about their depth in that area. I have not seen Rowan Co. yet and understand that Wilkes Co. has a winning record in league play also. Mooresville will see the return of UNC Asheville lefty, Tim Johnson (Statesville), this week to bolster their pitching staff but Mooresville is streaky at the plate despite a team batting average of over .300.

Post337Fan, I really appreciate the scores from our area. Just curious: how do you get them? Also, can you post the standings in the area leagues?

This game was played in Mooresville. Mooresville went down 6-0 before getting one Mocksville batter out in the top of the first inning and even fell behind 10-3 at one point in the game before rallying back to get within one in the final frame. This game featured a little bit of everything from homeruns to hit-batters getting called out for leaning in on a pitch and even Mocksvilles' head coach getting tossed. Mooresville kept chipping away all night and when Matt Marshall launched a 2 out, 9th inning bomb over the right-center field wall Mooresville had closed the gap to one run but a soft grounder to second ended the affair for both teams and Mocksville left town a winner on this night.
