    Commitment

know what you mean...its unfortunate that a kid has to make a choice of this nature with a championship on the line...being a parent I would have cancelled the trip sparing the kid the responsibility to make a choice. Making a point of commitment, once your start something you finish it. I would not hold him liable for something I planned. I know I would because I've seen me do it. LOL

East of Raleigh,,, concerning how did 2 teams with 1 loss meet for the championship. If you look at the national AL website, once they go to the regionals into the world series, the tournaments begin as double-elims, but it gets kinda screwy when you get down to the final 2-3 teams. For instance, somehow an undefeated South Carolina team had to play once-beaten Morehead City yesterday with once-beaten Deland drawing a bye. I could be wrong, but the national AL website shows how the pairings work throughout the tourney. And the same format will be used in the World Series as well.

Btw, great run by Morehead City. Congratulations, you represented North Carolina well.

    south carolina vs florida

south carolina has florida down 4-0 in the 4th. Allen Caldwell is on the mound for Sumter, he is their ace and has'nt pitched since thursday, so he should be well rested...i bet he don't have a beach trip planned

On the game broadcast, Chisenhall had an RBI... but it could have been off an error which would explain the 0-4.

Maybe it wasn't vacation, I don't know him or his family business. I read on the other site he left the team because of a prior commitment with his family, which I assume was vacation. Maybe it was a cruise or something? He's got a scholarship to UNC waiting and class begins for him next Wednesday. I'm sure he wasn't thrilled about missing the Regionals.

Okay...let me see if I can help straighten this out before it becomes a source of concern for Drew and his family.

First, all of their plans were addressed with their coach way before the season started and he encouraged them to proceed with their plans.

Drew has one older brother living in Tampa that travels 90 % of his time for business. He has another brother that recently graduated from UNC-W. With Drew heading to college next week, his one brother starting his new life and the older brother (recently married) having very little time off, this was the only time that the brothers (who are very close) would have a chance as a family to be with each other one last time. Reservations were made, money (a lot) was spent and there was no way that they could ever get that money back...nor the memorable experience as a family.

Some things are more important than baseball...and a last time to gather as a family is one of them. The coach gave his blessing before the season started...I think everybody else should, too.

I probably said too much about a personal decision involving nobody but the family, coach and teammates, but I hope I cleared that up and that nobody will debate a decison that is personal.

    Thanks Braves.

Congrats to Drew on a great high school career and legion season. Good luck at UNC-CH.

We're not looking to hang anybody here, its just a opinion. I hate that these kids have to make a decision to leave at such a critical time in their baseball season. Baseball means a lot to each of these guys or they would not spend their whole summer playing the game.
