but TJ when the teams are playing seven games in seven days during the regular season is kind of hard to take off to do showcase events - then they have to push aside their allegiance to their legion team instead of squeezing in a showcase event during downtime.

oh well - it happened - can't go back and change it now

and give me a break TJ about them "resting" for the next round - playing one day in a showcase event is as good as any practice they would have had.

Wossa, Like you said, its over and there's no use to drag it on. I only responded because folks were criticizing the legion rules, and in my opinion (which counts also) is that its a fair rule concerning dual participation.

It was a tough break for the Greensboro kids, but I still think the coach is the one who dropped the ball either not-knowing the rules or not-enforcing them.

During a showcase event the pitchers usually pitch to 9 batters or possible 3 innings a day. not any more and usually less... if they play a field position they take ground or fly balls , run 60's , take BP , and play somewhat of a controlled scrimage .
The part about getting hurt??? Well little Johnny Legion player just broke his hand when he fell down the steps going to the car headed to the next legion game... sounds stupid ? yes it is.. you can get hurt doing anything..
Next it will be against the rules to swim or go fishing. I think at 18 or 19 years of age , most of these kids have enough sense to know when enough is enough... and if they dont then it should be up to the parent and not someone sitting behind the desk that doesnt have to pay this kids college tuition.

Well, there should be. My son missed a game because I had to take him to the hospital. While taking off a bass he caught, the darn thing flipped and planted the hook deep inside his thumb......couldn't pitch for a week. Yep...ban fishing during baseball season:D

Let me get this straight, legion officials don't want players to wear themselves out playing too much baseball. So lets schedule 25 nine inning games in 30 days. Then lets play 3 rounds of playoffs. Possibly 5 games per round. Then when we qualify for the State lets play another series to determine our seeding. Then we will finally get around to the state tourn. by the time school starts. Then lets kick some kid out of the tourn. for going to a 2 day showcase, because he might be playing too much! Man i gotta laugh.

Look guys, I think the rule is fair. Bottomline is its the coach's job to know the rules. The coach either didn't know the rules or he just ignored them. I'm not blaming the kids.
