    If Greensboro and Garner hit the ball tomorrow like they both did today it should be a high scoring game tomorrow. I really hope Baker throws against Garner.

    Garner scored 6 in the top of the 1st. Was that Shelby's ace? :thinking:


    I have a feelin Garner's startin P will be too much for Greensboro tomorrow night... :laugh1:

    State Legion Tournament....

    2nd Day Schedule (Thursday Aug.5)...

    10am (Loser's Bracket): Laurinburg(18-8) vs. Caldwell County(34-8)

    1pm (Loser's Bracket): Pleasure Island(20-8) vs. Shelby(23-14)

    5pm (Winner's Bracket): Garner(20-8) vs. Greensboro(26-7)

    8pm (Winner's Bracket): Wayne County(28-7) vs. Kannapolis(31-8)

    Let's hear some thoughts on the 1st round games and predictions for today. I can't say much because I missed 3 out of my 4 first round picks. :teeth:

    Garner is just red-hot right now. I saw them play 3 games against Wake Forest and came away very impressed. I also came away thinking you better throw away from the 2-4 hitters. They saw Josh Dowdy and Drew Taylor in games 2 and 3 against Wake Forest and came away with wins each time. Both Pitchers were High 80's touching 90 and it didn't seem to matter. Both had success with the change up but got murdered when they challenged Garner hitters with fastalls.(esp....Carver, Locklear, and hamrick)......All three are dead fastball hitters. Stay on the outside of the plate with the change up against 2-4 hitters and live another day. But whoever throws against them better be ready for a long nites work......be patient and realize you will give up some hits. But really attack the 6-9 guys.....be very aggressive with those hitters and stay away from throwing fastballs to Locklear and Carver and you can win. Just my 2 cents worth!!!! Goodluck to all the teams.

    Leif Baker, my boy from LCC will be on the mound for Post 232 tonight. In his last start, he went complete game shut out against Wayne County to win the Area 1 Title.


    I told ya'll in the prediction there.... Garner doesn't lose come post-season.

    2nd Day coverage....

    Caldwell County just defeated Laurinburg by a 2-0 score. Laurinburg is now eliminated from the tournament while Caldwell County(35-8) lives to play another day.

    Shelby will play tomorrow against the loser of the Kannapolis / Wayne Co. game later tonight.
