    Garner beats Kannapolis 2-0

Kannapolis seemed stymied by the pitching of Primus...

i think 13 K's 1 hitter for Primus.. that would be very rare for kannapolis to have anywhere near that amount.
    1 hitter

Andrew Mead also pitched a good game taking the loss.

just a side note.... the announcers on the radio just plain ole sucked , especially the play by play guy...

    Hmmm... Garner won again?

    :laugh1:

"Dem boys" can play some ball in G-Town.... and hey, Primus is a shortstop.

Heard tonight from someone in the stands (;)) that the competition out there wasn't real tough. That shocks me as it is the state finals, but I heard the teams out there haven't looked real "sharp".

In all fairness, Good luck to the teams still left. :applause:

JM15, first of all, congratulations to Garner on beating Kannapolis last night. But with that said, don't pay NO ATTENTION to whatever fan got excited and told you the competition isn't all that good. I'm sure nobody was impressed with Kannapolis last night because we made 5 errors, and you just can't make 5 errors and win against many teams at any level. However, both pitchers last night could've very easily been locked in a 0-0 tie after 9 innings. JP Primus (your guy) pitched a one-hit shutout (13 K's), but our guy (Andrew Mead) only allowed 5 hits (with 9 K's) himself. Of your 5 hits, one was a swinging bunt that was rolled perfectly down the 3rd base line and there were 2 bloopers over the 1st baseman's head. Again, without our errors, it could've very easily been 0-0 after 9 innings. I'm not taking anything away from Garner, because I could tell that you guys have a tremendous ballclub,,, but I think its kinda ignorant to start criticizing the competition just because you win,,,,, and you can tell whoever said that to you that they need to take some of that air out of their head. Again, Garner has an excellent team, and if you win it, we'll be pulling for you in the SE regionals, but this tournament isn't over just yet.

Come on now... I was just takin' some jabs at the western teams :xyzthumbs ... no harm. Just havin some fun man. I know it is far from over, Garner can be beat twice on Sunday, anything can happen. And about Garner getting bloop hits and such, I know how you feel. We beat Garner twice during the regular season but they were ugly games because of the bloop hits. The guy that told me the competition wasn't hard came from a guy I play school ball with and played legion ball with, probably just a case of the jealousy,,, wishin we were still playin. So no harm in my last post, sorry if it came off a little rough!

PS... I am not "with" Garner. I hope THEY win it just because of the friends I have on the team, they are from Area 1, and my uncle is the coach. But they are our rival durin the legion season!

JM15,,, we're cool, I know you talk more baseball than junk. But my comment about bloopers may have sounded like "making excuses" but its a fact. While getting breaks are a part of the game,,, I'm not sure what your friend meant by saying the competition isn't all that good,,,, maybe he was obviously going by our 5 errors. Obviously we have to play better than that,,,, but obviously we "HAVE" played better than that too, or we wouldn't have won 32 ballgames this summer. One thing about it,,, if we make 5 errors again today, we're done. :teeth:
