I stayed in the hotel too. I can tell you I have no idea what you are talking about. Furthermore, I can tell you that no parents from Caldwell County stayed in the hotel, so how could anyone have known whos rooms were whos unless you were an official of the team?

DownSouth,,,, I kinda believe you, because I also know that the Kannapolis team packed and left immediately after the Caldwell game, so my question is exactly "who" saw these pictures and how does anyone know a Caldwell parent did it.

Btw Braves, you can't honestly think that I would open a can of worms, do ya???

Its the day after and I would like to say a few words and then I promise I am done with this discussion. I can be reached in PMs or whatever, but I am through pointing fingers and pitching a fit.

First of all, that picture thing makes less and less sense. If it was done before Saturday night, how would Caldwell have known they were playing Kannapolis? They had to beat Shelby before playing Kannapolis on the same day. Therefore, I am calling BS on that whole story.

Caldwell County played amazingly with heart and emotion in the American Legion tournament after game one. Game two, a kid named Josh Leyshon pitched a one hit 9-inning shutout and won 2-0. Game three, Russell Reid pitched his butt off and Caldwell beat a very good Greensboro team only allowing 3 hits. In doubleheader day 1, game four Caldwell finally started hitting the ball, and another amazing pitching performance by Alex Fairweather downed Shelby 10-0. Alex comming off 1 day rest pitched all 7 innings and only allowed 3 hits. Game 5 Caldwell beat the odds on favorite to win this thing, Kannapolis 7-4. The kid that got the win for Caldwell there, Shane Coffey, had a death in his family hours before he toed the rubber and pitched with so much emotion it would make the world shake. Reid came on to seal it with 2 innings after pitching the night before. Then, came championship day, Game six for Caldwell. Josh Leyshon came calling again and downed Garner 4-1. Josh pitched all nine innings again and I feel in my heart should have been the MVP of the tournament. The kid pitched 18 innings and gave up a run.

Game 2 of championship day was simple. Caldwell ran out of gas. The Shelby game was at 4pm the day before and Game two of the championship game ended at 8ish.... so Caldwell came within an eyelash of winning 4 games against the top teams in the state in 28 hours. Also in my heart, I feel if there had been a day of rest between game one and two of the championship, or maybe even a few hours, everyone could be pitching a fit that Caldwell is your State Champions. The heart was wanting but the flesh wasn't willing.

So thats my story. Gary Hamby is an amazing coach and to think he almost pulled off that kind of victory... he deserves so much more. Caldwell players have so much heart and so much determination... they deserve so much more.

DownSouth, your right, Caldwell County deserves a lot of credit for coming back through the loser's bracket like they did. Of course I wish my Kannapolis boys would've done better, but we just didn't get the key hit in those last 2 games and sometimes its just not meant to be. I'm disappointed but I think we can hold our heads high with 3rd place in the state.

As for the picture thing,,,, again DownSouth has a very legitimate question. If it was done before the game, Caldwell didn't even know they were playing Kannapolis until they beat Shelby, which was only minutes before the game.

Personally, I think we all need to just let it go and say congratulations to each of the teams for a good tournament.

:applause: I also would like to extend my congratulations to all the teams. What a great tournament. Anybody was talented enough to win it. But you can't help to pull for the underdog which coming out of the loser's bracket, Caldwell Co. sure commands respect. It appears that there were players from each team that responded to the pressures of the tournament and for those players that made All Tournament....congratulations on a magnificient performance at a high level atmosphere.

Congrats to Garner and we will be rooting for them from here on.
I'm a Caldwell fan and saw all but the second game. All these teams were really good and most good teams have a little swagger. Their fans do too and i think that is good. Most of these situations are seen through biased eye, I know I usually get much more excited when the trash talk comes from someone else and I think they are always the bad guy. Garner fans don't say too much about what Garner did wrong and Kannapolis fans don't say too much about what they do wrong and I don't say too much about what Caldwell does wrong. I think this thread is a good example of this. Who knows who fired the first shot, it looked to me all were participants before it went very far. One thing is for sure we all were very lucky to be able be involved in this tournament. I think legion baseball is the best thing going, and I feel even more so after watching this weekends action. Look at the good not the bad I think the people there had a heck of a time. I know i did. Thanks to all the teams for a great week and good luck next year. We will be following Garner's progress and again GOOD LUCK!!!!
