Sooo... Ive been toying around with an idea and want to get some feedback on it. I want to start a website that is Area IV American Legion based. If I can get sponsorships that would be awesome but I am tired of the BS that Legion kids do not get exposed as well as showcase (moneyball) kids.

I owned and operated caldwellbaseball.com and there were MLB scouts who would email me questions about Madison Bumgarner and Jimmy Messer and Brad Chavis and Russell Reid constantly. They wanted to know pitching rotations and who they defeated and their stats and how to get in touch with coaches, etc.

For those in the legion know, Richard Walker does a fantastic job working the legion wins and losses as well as the season stats when people will send them to him. Why not make that open to everyone all season long?

Also if the money for sponsors are there. I want to give back as well. I would like to give some funds to Area IV programs that make the state tournament to cover food, etc. If the tournament is in an Area IV park (which it is in Caldwell County next year), give that program some money to update and upgrade the stadium. Maybe even pay some radio guys to broadcast the state tournament online so everyone can hear all the games.

Give me some thoughts and feedback. I know there is no way to pull this off without some help from the TBR community.

Dead on, there is little or NO advantage to Showcase versus Legion, we play both. This is the ‘I did it so it must be correct’ argument. THINK. If you’re a college prospect they will find you! It’s a recruiter’s JOB to find these players. I like both because it’s baseball.
Showcase= for people with money who are bad at math. There must be 50 showcase teams in Mecklenburg alone. Then we travel to college campuses around the state to play each other?
Legion= sadly, folks are going elsewhere because this has gotten so corrupt. You want to cut out some BS then buy those Legion directors a copy of their own rule book. It will be tough to raise money for state tournament teams since it’s the same teams a lot of times. If the funds were spread across the board to all teams I would be interested.

Just to give an update to everyone. I am 80% sure I am going to do this for atleast the 2012 season of American Legion Baseball. I have reserved a site. I have been upgrading a laptop so I can cover games from on the road and I am talking to some area businesses to back me.

I sent an email of my intentions to Richard Walker today so maybe he can give me some ideas/feedback.

The only setback I have is that I cannot find my flash/dreamweaver template that I made caldwellbaseball.com with. So I may have to start from scratch or get someone with better web skills than I to help.

I go back to the TBR community and ask, what would you like to see in a American Legion baseball website?

I know it would be difficult, but I would love so make a recordbook for Area IV if in NC. Come May of next year, I have a feeling that I will be watching baseball every night. Maybe I can get some of the area news folks to send updates and we can make a flash scoreboard like ESPN has. What else?

    Almost time

So I am still stuck on this idea of an American Legion baseball website. I have had success with the Lake Norman HS website I created and now I want to go larger scale. I also had success with caldwellbaseball.com back in the day. But it died. :) To start out with, I think I should go Area IV since I live here but I need alot of help.

First things first, check out lnhsbaseball.com and see what my vision is. Then hit up nclegionbaseball.com and help me fill in team information. Like I said I need alot of help. If things go well, I will extend eastward to Area III and we can go from there.

Thanks for all your help in advance.
