    All Tourney

How does Alex Litaker not make the all tourney team? I'm not sure of how many spots they gave to pitchers. Crucitti had a nice tourney as well.

They picked All-Tourney by position, which meant only 3 outfielders,,, and your right Crucitti had a great tourney, but Trey Holmes was the only Rowan player chosen.

Btw, they did select 3 pitchers. You can probably get the entire All-Tourney team on the national website, but it was announced immediately following the championship game today.

    What a season!

Thanks for all the comments guys, I am so proud of my team. They competed so well and made Rowan County VERY proud. They just made too many mistakes early on in that game and the fact that they nearly were able to tie it in the ninth was amazing considering they were down 12-0. Pretty amazing stuff. CarolinaMan, you are right, you never want it to end. Even though you don't make it to the World Series every year or every 10 years, you never ever want the legion season to end because it is so special. I will never forget what these guys accomplished and how awesome they were this year. I would have never thought at the beginning of this year that it would end in Fargo, North Dakota with a third place finish in the nation. YES, it would've been incredibly awesome to win the whole thing and we did come close, but it just wasn't meant to be. I know the team won't ever forget this year and this wild ride. I mean they are the North Carolina state champs and southeastern regional champs. Those are some lofty accomplishments if I do say so. Once again, thanks for the kind words and comments.

    Congrats From Stanly

Really I do not know where to begin in heaping praise on this team. It was a pleasure to watch a team from top to bottom go out and compete. Yes they have alot of good ball players on this team, but it just seemed every night someone else just stepped up for them, they never quit. They played the game the way it is supposed to be played. I appreciated it and will always remember this team on what they accomplished, Guys you may not have won the WS but your team won alot of admiration and respect. I thank you for the way you handled yourselves and the way you competed.
Congratulations you are all champions in my eyes.

post51fan, Rowan finished 3rd, in fact (if one wanted to get tech) they actually finished tied for 3rd with Texarkana, because both clubs were eliminated the same round. Medford,Or clearly finished 2nd because they won more games than Rowan/Tex, and the fact is they were playing in the final game.

The tournament format was changed to the current format about 2 years ago. This format does not make a team in the loser's bracket conceivably play 5 ballgames within 2 days,,, it keeps everyone playing "about" the same number of games, with all tiebreakers going to teams in the winner's bracket because they earned them. Current format also intentionally rearranges some brackets later in tourney in an attempt to keep teams from playing the same teams over and over, so that you can play someone different as much as possible.

You are so right. Many years ago, (1976) I was a member of the Garinger High (Charlotte) team that lost the 4A state championship to Richmond Co. 2 games to 1. Back then the championship was a 3 game series for the last 2 teams. All three games were held at the same school.

Gotta remember that way back then, Garinger was the biggest school in the state, and very competative in all sports. We had all three games at Garinger. Lost game 1 by 1 run, won game 2 by 1 run, and lost game 3 (wasn't close). Talk about a let down.

Anyway, just wanted to agree with you that it would be hard to imagine how the guys on Rowan feel who were in their last season due to age.

I still wish I knew how many American Legion teams there were at the start of the season nationwide. Maybe that would make the #3 look a little bit bigger.

I was not in this area yet when Cherryville went to the finals, just a few years ago, so I couldn't comment those feelings.
