Clearly some parents are guilty of living thru their children, and clearly some parents are just jerks,,, whether it be baseball, football, gymnastics or whatever. I too have done some things (when raising my sons) that I'd like to have a do-over, but you can't. What I like about TBR is that folk like Braves have developed a place for us all to come together and just talk baseball, whether it be high school, college, pros, showcase, legion, whatever,,,, the common theme all along has been that we try to keep it all about the players, and keep it positive. We acknowledge that players have bad games, but whats the purpose of emphasizing the negative? Promoting and giving young players PROPS is the best part about TBR. Sharing information and baseball knowledge is my 2nd favorite thing, IMO.

As for younger parents who still have kids playing, I agree the best advice I would give you is to just quit fretting about the strikeout, or the error, or the one bad game, because one day your son will be finished playing completely. Enjoy every game and every day to its fullest, look for the positive to share with your son, because the positive is always there, sometimes you just have to look for it.

That's right, model a positive attitude! It's the coach's job to teach and tell what's right and wrong. We wouldn't go into a High school Algebra class and tell a teacher how to teach it, or sit and watch how she or he teaches, or how other students perform. But parents sure do camp out at practices, all the way through high school, everyday! They are the same ones that sat through every practice since little league. Let go, stop comparing everyone's every move, let the coach do his job, and your ball player do his, a little independence can be very motivating! Here's hoping each and every ball player wins, nobody's is after the loss. But with each win or loss, enjoy, learn, and walk away knowing you gave your all!

    Thanks for the reminder

I have only been on TBR for a couple of years, but have already become friends with several members. This has been a great site for information and spirtuality. As a high school coach entering my 4th year, I am for ever learning and leaning on TBR for wisdom and guidence. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and see things through another set of eyes and TBR helps me accomplish this year after year. With a son heavily in the recruiting process, Braves, has helped me keep my sanity. Thanks to Braves and everyone who keeps TBR fun and informative with the "kids" best interest at heart.:clapclap:

    Nice reminder Braves.

It is good to see your child get recognized when they do well. Although he has learned from the poor comments also. At first they hurt and they hurt me and his Mom. But he learned to blow it off, as did we. He realized you have to ignore the negativity as much as possible.

The other thing I realized is to truly enjoy every moment. My oldest leaves the house soon. He's going to play college football. I doubt he plays two sports. So after this sr. season baseball may be over for him. I used to scowl and get upset when he struck out. Come 5 months from now I will be wishing to see him strike out again. Enjoy every moment. If you have spent as much time as I have with my sons you will understand how tough it is to let your best friend go off to school. All the years have been wonderful. I was hard on him when he was younger. That wasn't what he needed from me. Fortunately I figured it out a couple of years ago. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as we have and I hope you recognize that you should enjoy every moment earlier than I did. Enjoy the journey, not the destination.

It has been a while since I have regularly posted here, but I have to say that TBR has a bunch of people associated here that care about not only the game but the kids involved. Many times we have differing opinions here, but you'd better not bad mouth a kid because you will feel the wrath of Braves and many others. This has been good for baseball in NC... I love this place!!
