Mort does it again. Tossed a complete game 3 hitter today against Morehead City and S. Carolina commit Lonnie Chisenhall. Lexington wins 2-1.

    Andrew Morton

Apparently Andrew Morton is awesome, why didn't his high school coach (yeah, I know how slack some of them can be) or even the great Andy P. help this boy? How sad... I really hope he will find a way to continue to play at the level he should & can. Hey "BRAVES", ya think he'd be playing in college if his family had a few thousand bucks to spend on IMPACT? (sorry, I could not pass this up!) How different it would be if he were a 'dirt-bag'.:banginghe :thud:

Lexington High School is horrible in baseball. Morton kept them "in" games but they still had no shot at winning. This past year Lexington was routinely beat 12-0, and that's on the pretty side (I remember one 30-1 score I think). Had he been at a different school it might be different.

Again,,,,,,,,, not surprised by Morton's performance today. Not sure what its going to take to get some college coach to reel him in,,, but because most coach's still want to win,,, I have a feeling Mort is going to be pitching somewhere at the next level next year,,, especially since he keeps on putting up these great numbers in what is clearly the biggest games of his life.

Congrats to Andrew!!! Son, your doing all you can do... Keep it up... :victoryg:

Mort actually threw a 2 hitter. The scoreboard called a "at'em" grounder that went under our 3rd baseman's glove a hit. (Lonnie?) Chisenhall had both singles. Mort I think struck out 7. Chisenhall 14. He's a rising senior heading to South Carolina & is the real deal. We had heard Chisenhall lived off his fastball, but his curve is pretty nasty. And he threw a changeup a few times with a 3-2 count. Impressive.

For the record: Mort is talking to a few schools. The issue is $$$...& it is a double edged sword. Most schools are bankrupt this late in the recruiting process. Also it takes time to figure out finacial aid packages. But the greatest obstacle is that Mort has to work to support himself. I mean support himself in every way in every way...clothes, food, car, gas, insurance... Some schools won't permit their players to work even in the offseason.

There are some people who are trying to figure out how to help Mort. Thanks for caring about him.

I didn't get to meet this young man or see him play...I truely wish I had gotten the opportunity. Reading all the different post I feel like I have gotten to know him and I know am a better person from this.

Obviously Andrew is an excellent ball player, more importantly he is an unbelievable young man...as UK7Dook3, "God has big plans for Andrew Morton".

Now that the Legion season is over I hope someone will keep us updated on how Andrew is doing and where he lands. I know I speak for a lot of members of the board in that we look forward to hearing the updates. :trophy:
