Walters State defeated NC State 11-2
NC State defeated ASU 4-3 I think was the final score
    Walters State defeated ASU 4-1

Jessie Shelton from Watauga pitched a complete game for Walters State in the victory over ASU.

Jennifer Antal, 2B, and Nicki Bost, CF, from Alexander, and Ashley Adams, 1B, from South Caldwell all played excellent defense and hit the ball well for Walters State. I'm not sure, someone may confirm this, but Nicki Bost hit a HR in the game over NC State.

Where is Walters State? What Division? Sounds like they may be a pretty good program.

I think Walters State is a Community College from TN. Morristown, I think. Is this the college that the gentleman that use to coach at ASU, is coaching? I talked to him at South Caldwell back in the spring. He said he was there trying to recruit some players for a college in TN.

Thanks Comet Fan, I had never heard of them but given how they fared against the other two schools they must be pretty good.

Comet fan you are correct. Walters State is a beautiful school with a pretty good softball program. They are 2 year school in the NJCAA but they like to play around where ever they can get a good game. We had one of their players at ETSU to transfer in when the BUCS started their program. The gentleman you refer to is I believe, "Richard", he's an older fellow that loves fastpitch softball and does a lot to get young ladies seen by college coaches. I think he did a lot of traveling and looking for App in App's early days.

Richard works with the pitchers at Walters State. He was at one time with Lees McRae, then ASU, now on to Walters State. He has also helped with several pitchers in Boone and the surrounding area. He loves fastpitch and comes from a fastpitch background out west. The head coach has been there for several years, I forget his name, but you can find him on their website. They haven't updated the site since last year, but you can check their record from last year. They had a great year. He is a tremendous hitting instructor and his team always hit well. Richard is familiar with the area and they look at players that some colleges around here don't look at.
