Any answers yet????? Just one more if he has the time. With Impact's and it's high exposure in NC baseball and their offings to college programs. Does he see Impact offering a college scholarship (athletic or academic) to the (all) baseball players in NC?

Not sure where the money would come from for a scholarship. Do you know of a showcase program that is offering a scholarship?

    (1) Impact is a business. Not knocking it. Wished I would have thought of it. Therefore not knowing but I would assume that this would mean they make money to stay in business. I know that it has been said that the showcases are breakeven at best. But, what about ad dollars and subsription dollars. I am sure that they get money from other areas also. Just figured that if you make money you could give some back. I did not say it had to be a full ride or any amount.
    (2) I know of some scholorships that have a big golf touney every year. This funds the scholarship. As far as NC showcase programs having one not many are set up as a business. National programs such as Perfect Game and others. That is a good question. And one that may need to be asked. I looked around and did not see anything with thier direct name. It may have been listed as something else. Maybe they all could get together and do something? Here are some that I found.
    Dixie League http://youth.dixie.org/site3.aspx
    Babe Ruth http://www.baberuthleague.org/
    Legion http://www.legion.org/homepage.php
    AAU http://image.aausports.org/index.html

I know these are large players in youth sports. But, I see many scholarships out there that are memorial funds or in honor of and just general. Most of which award different amounts from $100 up. So size of dollar amount, I think is not a question it is whether one wants to.

    Give something back

Indeed you should give something back. But you don't have to advertise what you do for kids. Maybe paying motel bills for kids that can not afford it would qualify. Or buying cleats and paying for meals for the ones that can not afford it. Or maybe allowing kids to attend a showcase at a reduced cost or for free would qualify as giving something back. This is done all the time but it is not something that Andy would ever talk about. He could talk about driving kids down to Florida for showcase events because there parents could not afford to send them or get off of work. Heck he could even talk about the fact that he loses money on his Dirtbag teams every year because he never charges what it costs to actually run the teams. I am sure when he drives to Manteo to report on a high school game or just scout some players and then stays in a motel to scout a game on the way back the next day it doesn't cost him much. Especially when you take into account this is done almost on a nightly basis during the hs season.

Could it just be the guy has a passion for the game of baseball and loves being around the game and those that play it? Could it be he enjoys coaching and what he does just pays the bills? Could it also be that Impact Baseball makes just enough money to help him do all that he does for hs baseball players?

If it will make you happy I will donate a 100.00 scholarship in Impact Baseballs name to a deserving hs player of your choice.

Maybe I should have not used give back. I never mentioned anything about what AP does or does not do for the sport. I posed a simple question. Does he see a scholarship happening? That I thought was fairly simple. A yes or no. You can justify either answer as you see fit. I refered to Impact as a business. I think that I am correct there. I never said anything in referance to the Dirtbags. As I have seen posted in other threads. They stand alone from Impact. So, what he does there I would consider a seperate item or statement. You will also note that in the beginning, I mentioned all players and it could be academic or athletic.

As for you last note: Are they wholesale or retail value?

Just so everyone knows, Andy offers scholarships every year. But it is not something he will ever broadcast. Since I can only speak about the organizations I know, SC Panthers offer scholarships to every player on their team (whether they need it or not).

I can say this with absolute confidence: There is nothing Andy won't do to help a player inside or outside his program. People wrongly suspect that he only helps players on the Dirtbags and that is simply not true.

But, I believe I know where Platedad is coming from and it may be an interesting idea. It would be cool to see an organization select (1) player, based on a certain criteria, receive some sort of college award.

    * That one player that has beat all odds or has done something rare and unique, but has a special need for assistance to college.

I'm not advocating for anyone particular to do so, but it would be neat to see someone step up and implement something like this.

Shoot, maybe we could do this on TBR: seek donations and the members decide on the selection based on the candidates mentioned.

Thanks Braves. Very well put. You know that I respect what AP is doing. It was just a question. I did not know about the SC Panters. I am sure that if someone that knows how to set something like that up. It would be a great thing to see. Like the duct tape scholarship give by Duct Tape.
