    Have heard through the grape vine that ASU was getting a new field. Anybody know any details.

    There has been talk about a new field in Boone, but it would be for WHS if one of the ill-advised expansion plans for new classrooms comes to light.
    ASU's current field is relatively new.

    Appalachian should be much improved in this and future seasons. Best of luck to them!

    My two cents...

    I think ASU has a very nice facility that just needs some upgrading especially to the amenities, parking etc... no doubt it is landlocked like all get out!

    Heard that the staff wanted new locker room/dugout facilities and based on the current configuration would not work, so they have decided to expand elsewhere.

    A major announcement Saturday from ASU about their "New Athletics Facilities Enhancement Plan". Included in the plan is a new baseball field and an indoor practice facility. Work will begin after the Spring 2006 baseball season.

    Baseball Stadium (Immediately)
    • Ready for play for 2007 season
    • Located at Broyhill Inn and Conference Center
    • 2,000 seating capacity
    • Locker room
    • Indoor batting cage

    Indoor Athletics Facility (Following conclusion of 2006 baseball season)
    • Ready for use in Winter 2006
    • Located in right field of current baseball venue
    • 80 X 60 yard artificial field
    • Taping and changing rooms
