    double edged sword

I am sure that not many of the triangle HS coaches would miss the opportunity to spread some fertilizer. But, are you aware that the summer HS league has a new rule just for the potential lost kids that the Legion teams have ousted? It appears that if you are a graduated senior and have no other place to play, you can now still be eligible to play summer HS league. Now, who is looking out for who?

I am so happy we don't have to put up with that crowd in my neck of the woods.

Seeing as how you're the self-appointed defender of these guys, tell me if you approve of the tactic of threatenng them with loss of playing time next year if they choose Legion baseball.

BTW, who won the HS summer league? Do they get to go to a state tournament?

Why do you feel the need to piss on HS coaches Devil? You have your Legion ball and I'm glad you enjoy it. If the Triangle coaches want to have a HS league, good for them and I'm sure the kids that play in it do so because they love the game, not because of their coach's threats. Of course there are some CONTROLLING coaches....in HS and Legion too. But, don't cast all Triangle HS coaches as such. Also instead of ripping the HS coach at SSS for taking care of his field, why don't you give him credit for ALLOWING Clayton to use SSS's field all summer long.
Congrats to Wayne Co. for winning Area I, the players are deserving as are Clayton's players. Sounds like the teams battled for 3 games and one team won....that is sports. Forget about the field, the team being tired, one team wanting it more....all that crap is exactly that...crap. In the end, nobody cares about the extra stuff...all anyone SHOULD care about is Wayne Co. won the series...period.
For the record, I am a HS coach from the Triangle area and I coach American Legion ball in the summer.

Can I see the bill of sale where the Clayton coach bought the field?

It's no skin off my back either way. Wayne has access to a HS and college field, and we don't have any competition from the HS coaches. The Area I West Legion folks, who often bring these things on themselves, can fight their own battles.

Once again RaleighDevil you had to find something to stir that pot (or push the buttons). You say you don't try and do that but your comments at times say otherwise. Congrats to Wayne Co. Post 11!! RD just stick to your stats. You make people hate Wayne County. The sad part of all that is that it is only your comments and feelings not all of us who support Wayne Co. The comment about the sprinklers and stuff was just uncalled for. I have never seen someone who is always posting negative stuff about another team as you do. Maybe you should join up with Caldwell or Cherryville they seem to like cutting on each other. Grow up.

Were you in a 1939 movie and didn't get what you needed?

What I say to people on message boards I will say to them in person, so please considering that stirring the pot or what you will.

You greatly exaggerate the number of people who read and are influenced by this or any other board.

Now I have to get back to preparing a handout to help the broadcasters and other people covering the game. Continue on with your attacks if it boosts your self-esteem.

    stand corrected?

Please note, the title of my last post was "double edged sword". I dont try to defend the HS Summer league or bash them (although I agree with most of RD's comments about alot of the coaches). While the HS coaches in the triad area has stolen from the Legion programs, they were also willing to accomodate the seniors who couldnt be absorbed into the 5000 rule for the shrinking Legion programs. I commend any program that bends to help players continue to play. I understand that Wayne County legion can be commended for the same thing from looking at your roster. Once again, I will state that the 5000 rule needs to be looked at or the triad area needs to go to the other Legion plan for recruiting!

We've discussed the problem with players not being able to join teams. I don't know much about it, but others say the problem is the lack of teams. In Area I East, Snow Hill didn't have a team for the first time since Cap Anson was playing. This didn't happen, but you could have had a situation where the Greene Central HS players couldn't be absorbed by the surrounding teams due to the enrollments.

The answer is to get more interest in the areas that don't have teams. This means parents have to take the initiative. I would go into all this but it's been discussed and I'm preparing handouts for the tourney.

Bigger question, why did the legion program in Smithfield go away and the ORIGINAL field not get upgraded. From what I hear, it was donated to JCC. Now, the original Smithfiled dads that were so high on starting the HS summer league are victims of who they supported. I wont mention any names, but some of them played and coached in the now gone Legion Program in Smithfield. Looking out for their #1s in the spur of the moment turned the long range plan into a #2 for the Smithfield Legion program.

Brad Reaves deserves a great applause for his continued devotion to both his school and his Legion program. He truly serves his area well and has a geniune care for developing all the players from Wayne County. He is the epitome of what a HS & Legion coach should be and that is why WC is successful.
