    Couple of things here:
    1) The high school leagues do not "rent" their fields, the high schools themselves are sponsoring the teams.
    2) The county does own the ball parks which goes back to my original point of some coaches thinking they are the ones who own these fields- not the taxpayers of said county. Which is why it doesn't make any sense that these coaches are so unwilling to allow Legion to play on the high school fields. Some of these coaches' former and current players are the ones trying to find a field to play on while they're on the Legion team.

    Garner leads 2-0 with Game 3 tomorrow night in Garner.

    BTW, Remember what I have told ya'll about this Garner team. A 6-14 regular season record looked like a team that had quit because they were already automatically in the State Tourney... but Garner is a playoff team no-matter-what the regular season looks like. Coach Barbour has the boys ready to play each and every summer right around this time.

    Whoever wants it the most will advance. All of these teams are very talented.

    What happened @ Smithfield-Selma tonight?

    Edenton was leading Wayne 3-2 in the last of the seventh. Bases loaded, one out. Fly ball to center, player out at the plate and is ejected for putting his shoulder into the catcher.

    Edenton had ten players, and put one in during a seventh inning pitching change. Therefore, Wayne won by a forfeit.

    There was an ejection at the end of the Durham/ Clayton game-literally after the last pitch. Not sure how that will be ruled on.

    I thought you had to have 9 players to start a game, but could finish a game with 8 players... Guess not...

    GARNER POST 232 advances to the Area 1 West Championship against Durham/Clayton.

    7 innings


    Garner wins series, 3-0.


    Because Garner is in the Area 1 West Championship Series, either Durham/Clayton will advance to the '07 State Tourney.
