    south vs kannapolis

south gets win tonight over kannapolis with rudy brown's grand slam. one more game for the sweep. i don't know about yall but charliehustle and travisunc don't really seem to know what they are talking about. south is by far a better team than kannapolis and i think this series is goin to prove that. they have thrown their top two pitchers and are down 0-2, south still have their number 2 and 3 arms. south also swept stanly and lexington during the regular season, while only losing to mocksville by one run twice, one was the second game of a double header. mcdaniels threw both games, and i think in a 5 game series south's pitching matches up better. even if mcdaniels beats them again there are 4 other games to be played, he can't throw them all.

baseball820,,,, somebody told me a long time ago that if you truly have a good team, you don't have to go around trying to tell folks how good you are.

    Baseball 820,

Nice first post. Way to start with the insults off the bat. I see a lot of games, played a lot of games in my day; my opinion is in a series South isn't as strong as Rowan, Stanly, or Mocksville. I may be proved wrong, not above admitting that. I'm not going to say you don't know what you are talking about just because my opinion differs from yours. Let the teams decide on the field. South has the best team they have had since the Andrew Morgan teams, but I'm not ready to put them in the State Tourney just yet. If not for a two out, grand slam in the ninth inning they are tied with the sixth seed in a five game series. Not exactly dominating. I still think they are better than Kannapolis which I stated when I defended them in an earlier post.

South did sweep Stanly and Lexington, but they did have 5 losses in conference. This means they were beat by someone. I know, Rowan twice and Mocksville. They did suffer losses against the lower half of the division in Kannapolis and Mooresville. It's not like South dominated Stanly, Lexington or Mocksville. They did win however, so I will give them their due. South against Rowan was completly one sided if I remember correctly. I think they were both mercy rule games.

I am originally from Rowan County, though I don't live there now, so I would like to see both teams from there go far in the playoffs.

    travisunc,

south lost to mooresville twice in non-league games where they played alot of people and used alot of arms... they beat them twice in the league...

their 5 losses are to rowan 2X, mocksville 2X (5-4 in 10 inn and 1-0 with mcdaniel throwing both times) and kannapolis...

    travisunc,

just wondering if you've been to the 2 rowan-mooresville games so far and would like to know if rowans bats have gone away early in this series... from what i've read on here and from the salisbury post, it appears that mooresvilles defense has failed them and basically given the first 2 games... just wanting your opinion if you've seen both games...

    Legion,

No, I have not been to any of the Rowan playoff games. I have talked to folks who were at both that said Mooresville's defense has been terrible. Rowan has not hit in over two weeks. Rowan plays flawless defense and has tremendous range at every position. Rowan always seems to get timely hits and big plays in the field that turn the tide of a close game. Keegan Linza hasn't been dominating as he has the potential to be either, over the last month or so.

I wouldn't say that Moorsville has given the games away. Last night, Moorsville only managed 3 hits the entire game. One player had all of their RBI's via a 2 run homer and 2 run double. I think Rowan left 10 or 12 on base. I really look for Rowan to get back on track tonight and close this out.

Trey Holmes, who would have been the best pitcher in Rowan County in high school this season, has been throwing on the side and could return if needed. He hasn't pitched in a game in a long time, however.

I am acutally leaving for Europe in couple of days and will be gone until the end of the month, so I will not be able to catch anyone's games until the State Tourney unless some teams around Raleigh are still playing when I get back.
