I agree Westboy that Rowan probably feels like they gave away 2 games at Burlington, but remember Burlington very easily could've won at Newman Park in Game 2.

This should be a 6 or 7 game series. Rowan folks will really be getting nervous if rain interferes in this series like it already has with the South/Randolph series. Because as of right now Rowan desperately needs to win the next 2 games or Burlington would win a rain-shortened series of any kind. Only one more win for Rowan to tie it 2-2 would not help, Rowan's got to win the next 2 and go up 3-2, because otherwise right now Burlington controls this series in more way than one with a 2-1 lead and heavy thunderstorms forecasted the next 2 days.

With this series holding so much importance I would hope they would shorten the next series to 2 out of 3, and do everything they can to finish these series. I hope that we will be able to avoid the rain at the ballpark and get the games in on time.

Rowanfan, I'm sure they will do everything they can to get these series in,,,, however, South Rowan/Randolph County was rained out again tonight. Haven't heard anything about Rowan County/Burlington. They have deadlines that they cannot change the next round because of the upcoming state tournament, so they have to get this series in by Saturday (I believe Sat is correct, could be wrong).

Yes Rowan and Burlington was halted in the bottom of the 1st with Rowan about to come to bat. After about 25 minutes, the rain wasn't letting up and they called it. Will resume Wednesday night back at Newman in the bottom of the 1st. Matt Hall was on the mound for Rowan and Snow (can't remember his first name) was on the mound for Post 63.

South Rowan was leading Randolph County 3-1 in bottom of 4th with one out, when rains came. If they could've gotten thru top of 5, it would've been considered a complete game since South was leading. Anyway, Game 3 was postponed and will be continued in 4th inning starting tomorrow at 4:00pm at South,,,,, with Game 4 scheduled to begin at or around 7:00pm,,,, its doubleheader time.

Sorry, haven't heard anything from Newman Park, judging from radar, can only suspect that their game was postponed also.

    WP: Matt Hall
    LP: Tyler Snow

Matt Hall pitches 9 innings of 4 hit ball giving up 2 solo homeruns to Cale Rogers and Matt Parker. Billy Veal hit a grand slam early to put some seperation between the two teams and give Hall some breathing room to work with and that was all he needed. Hall had a shutout going into the 7th before one of the solo shots. The game was delayed by lightning for 40 minutes or so, but the teams resumed play. The series (2-2) shifts back to Tom Zachary Field in Graham Thursday night with both aces going. Cale Rogers for BG and Tanner Brown for RC.

Games that don't make it to the fifth inning are supposed to be rainouts and start over. This is not a tournament. Is this another example of Legion officials making things up as they go? And it's actually a suspension if that's the way they're going to do it.

As far as deadlines are concerned, our commissioner said today that the two series in Area I would be played to completion even if the Area I title series was shortened to a one-game event.

Uniformity and American Legion baseball often don't belong in the same sentence.

The game at South was suspended until tomorrow the same way Rowan's was yesterday. I hope that the area III commissioner follows suit and makes sure this series is allowed to be the best of seven.

RaleighDevil, the way I understand it, regular season games that are postponed in less than 5 innings, would be started over completely. But playoffs are suspended and picked up where left off, in this case the 4th inning.

As Rowanfan said about the Rowan game from the previous night, they started in bottom of 1st tonight.

I may be wrong, but I believe this is the way its been pretty consistently in Area 3 over the last so-many years now, which goes over 2 different area commissioners during that time. Both commissioners have dictated that it be done this same way.

    I could be wrong.

Absolutely unbelievable that the monsoon that hit China Grove pretty much missed Salisbury.

Oh and by the way, this series is shaping up to be a good one.
