As stated, Randolph 7-6 over South to end South's season.

    WP: Stephen Davis
    LP: Ryan Bostian
    S: Ethan Marsh

Randolph built an early 4 run lead with 2 in both the 2nd and 3rd. RBI's were delivered by Marsh, Bradley Holland (1 in each inning), and Hunter Ridge. South battled back to 4-3 on a Brett Huffman 2 run single in the 4th and an RBI HBP by Weston Church in the 5th. With the bases still loaded in the 5th and 0 outs, Maverick Miles ripped a ball right at Ridge, who stepped on first for a DP to kill the possible rally. Ridge then homered to make it 5-3 and another Randolph run made it a 3 run margin again. South fought back again to make it 6-5 but a leadoff homer in the 6th by Randolph's Nolan Seawell once again extended the lead. South found some life in the 8th with a Walker Snow solo HR and Church kept wiggling in and out of trouble to keep it close. But Marsh came in and put the series to an end with 1 1/3 inning of scoreless relief. Great game at McCrary Park for all of the fans that showed up expecting the Copperheads game. Randolph advances to the state tournament for the 2nd straight year (should be 3, but the area only got 1 bid as Thomasville hosted 2 years ago) while South sees its season come to an end at McCrary Park in the Area III semis for a 2nd straight year.

good read. can't believe that's happening in Area III. i could see it happening in other parts of the state.

i went to a playoff game last year at randolph county and was amazed. i can't imagine what the A.D. felt when he had to turn away a crowd at the gate.

My son was on the South Rowan team during the Will Clark era.. that was very painful for alot of the guys and families at both rowan and south rowan teams..

and people wonder which is better .. travel ball or american legion

if everyone knew politics was going to play a part in determining the outcome of games , series and eventual participants in the state tournament we all could have just stayed home or go on vacation instead of playing the games ...
