All games in Area III South cancelled tonight except Mocksville/Rowan.

    Rowan beats Mocksville 1-0.

    WP: Zach Simpson
    LP: Corey Norman
    S: Justin Roland

Phillip Miclat knocks a 3rd inning home run for the lone run. Simpson pitched 5 2/3 shutout, Matt Hall pitched out of a jam in the 7th, Cody Laws and Trey Holmes combined on the 8th, and Justin Roland closed it for Rowan. Mocksville had the tying-run reach in the 9th but he was picked off. I'm sure west boy might have more for us later.

That's pretty good info right there, but the thing about Philip Miclat's solo shot, was that was his first homerun he had EVER hit. What a storyline that'll be. Both starting pitchers; Simpson for Rowan and Norman for Mocksville were outstanding. Simpson had a no hitter going into the 4th inning when Mocksville reached on an infield hit. The relief pitching of Matt Hall, Cody Laws, and Trey Holmes was a big boost. J-Rol (Justin Roland) continued his dominance and got some help from Mocksville when they sent a runner and he got in a pickle and was easily tagged out. That was a rally killer for sure and the hitter already had an 0-2 count. I guess they were trying to stay out of a double play, but that killed their chances. Great pitching and just enough offense gives Rowan a commanding 2-0 series lead which goes back to Newman Park Wednesday night when Rowan will send the lefty Russell Michalec to the mound. Not sure who Mocksville will start.

I'd look for either Ryan Carter or Jake Koontz to throw for Mocksville. Rowan has a chance to sweep and get an extended break while the rest of the division will be playing game 2 tomorrow. This could help Rowan if the Mooresville/Kannapolis series goes deep.

Kernersville will go to High Point the next 2 nights and High Point will send out Matt Dillon tomorrow night and Kernersville may counter with either Jon Ray or Shane Dickerson or maybe even Kelly Surface

    Series tied 1-1

Even tho most of the Area III South games were washed out yesterday, according to weatherman, theres a better chance of more rain today and tomorrow...

Looks like the south could have to possibly go to a best of 3 series for this round if it keeps raining?? We have gone most of the year without rain and now comes legion playoffs and the skys deside to open up haha...i guess it's like high school season, it's real nice and then February comes around and it turns frigid cold.

Eagles, right now looking at forecast, I would take 2 outta 3,,,,, because the next 7 days they're calling for rain.

I'm just hoping to get back on the ballfield period. Hope it don't come down to who won game 1.
