I sure hope someone will post Lamascola's status as soon as they know it,,, things like this should remind us about our priorities, and I know everyone is praying for his complete recovery.

It might have been a record for runs scored by Rowan or Mooresville, but it's not a record for runs scored in a Legion game. In 2004 South Rowan defeated Mocksville in a real 9 inning barn burner. The final score was 32-26. I think there were 3 grand slams in the game. We were there till about 1:30 am the next day.

Second-round playoff game in 2006 that I wish I could purge from memory:
    Edenton......... 27
    Wilson........... 21

I thought the missed extra point would come back to haunt them.

Yeah for some reason, everybody was just hitting the ball hard last night. I would say from the 6th inning on, every ball Mooresville hit was hard. I just couldn't believe it when they tied it up on that three run homer by Dylan West off of Justin Roland who has been lights out all year long. Roland still managed to not let it get to him and he got them out the next inning and Rowan was able to score three more runs to give him another chance at preserving the victory for Rowan and he did. Just an unforgettable game that somehow Rowan survived in. Folks, if you're not doing anything tonight, come on over to Newman Park in Salisbury if you want to see a great game. There should be a good crowd as well.

Westboy, I was at Newman Park tonite, looked for you but couldn't find you in that crowd, someone estimated 900-1000 in attendance. As for Lamascola, I did find out he was released from the hospital today and he was at the game in his uniform, which was a good sign. Best wishes to him for speedy recovery.

As for the game itself, all I can say is wow, Rowan played great and Mooresville, well didn't play so well.

Guess I'll be in China Grove tomorrow nite watching Game 2 of Lexy/SRowan series, South led their game all night and blew a 6-2 lead in 8th inning to lose 7-6. Lexy/SRowan should be a great series, could go 5 games.

I assume you're talking about this one. Salisbury Post says 31-23 in 10 innings in 2003, but we all get the idea.

    Rowan 23
    Mooresville 4

    7 innings
    RC leads series 2-0

    WP: Zack Simpson
    LP: Aaron Meadows

Well, no need to give out too many details tonight except that Mooresville committed something like 12 or 13 errors and Rowan took full advantage. Moors starter Aaron Meadows did give up some hits, but his defense completely fell apart, dropping flyballs, throwing it away, bobbling and booting. It was really ugly for Mooresville, but like I said, Rowan capitalized. Mooresville had a chance to jump on top in the top of the first, but Simpson pitched around two walks and a bloop hit. Rowan really came to play tonight and knew that they had to score early and often and put the visitors away. Russell Michalec should get the start Tuesday night at Mooresville when Rowan tries for the sweep. Scottie Williams should be going for Mooresville.

Yes Nick Lomascola showed up at the game and I think his teamates were very surprised when he walked in. He had on his uniform and he was carrying his cleats which he eventually put on. He appears to be in good health, but I do believe his legion season might be over for this year. I could be wrong, but I doubt they want to risk further injury to the talented young man.

    Austin Moyer started for Randolph: 4IP 9H 8R 8ER 2BB 1K
    Ryan Dull started for Kernersville: 6IP 10H 7R 3ER 2BB 9K

The story of the night was Kernersville's 6 errors. Kernersville took a comanding 9-4 lead in the bottom of the 4th by scoring 7 runs. Randolph didn't quit and kept chipping away at the lead and finally busted through with a 6 run 9th inning that took the wind right out of Kernersville. This game reminded me a lot of Kernersville last year in the 3rd round at Rowan when they had the game won and made too many errors and couldn't close it out in the end. Moyer and Dull both threw a lot of pitches due to a lack of a strike zone. Both pitchers had to keep the ball up because the low strike did not exist. Games 2 and 3 will both be at Randolph County at 7pm

    HR: RC: Hohn, McSwain
    K: Bennett

Randolph leads the series 1-0 and appears to have all the momentum.
