    South Rowan-16 over Lexington-6 (7 innings)

South Rowan certainly responded to a heart-breaking opening game loss, by taking game 2 and evening this series at 1-1. Hopefully a SR fan will provide specific game details.

Also heard Rowan County was leading Mooresville 7-4 late in their game.

As tj21 said, South responds and wins 16-6 in 7 innings, evening the series at 1.

    WP: Cameron Park
    LP: Jordan Hudson

Lexington jumped out on top 1-0 on a Zach Briggs homer (however many that is for him now) but South responded in the bottom half with 5 runs. South eventually stretched the lead to 10-2 before Lexington started to chop back into it. It was 10-4 in the 6th when Weston Church came to the hill with the bases loaded and 1 out. He induced a inning-ending 1-2-3 double play to kill the threat. Going to the bottom of the 7th, South led 11-6, but 5 runs in the inning ended the game via the 10 run rule. Key blows for South were a two run single by Church in the first, a two run double by Church in the fourth, and a three run homer by Ryan Bostian in the 7th. Walker Snow also homered for South.

The series returns to Lexington's Holt-Moffitt Field on Wednesday.

    SWEET SWEEP!!

    Rowan County 9
    Mooresville 5

    WP: Russell Michalec
    LP: Scottie Williams
    SV: Billy Veal

Rowan finishes off the sweep of Mooresville at MHS Tuesday night. Mooresville jumped on top 1-0 and starter Scottie Williams was looking pretty good. But, the second time through the lineup was when Rowan started to get to him. Micah Jarrett launched two homeruns for RC and Philip Miclat also got his second HR of the season in two weeks. With Rowan leading 3-1, Brantley Horton (West Rowan) tied the game with a two run double down the left field line. Rowan regained the lead for good in the next inning. Mooresville got one run across in the 9th and had the bases loaded with a chance to tie the game, but Billy Veal got the game ending strikeout. Congratulations to the Mooresville boys on a great summer.

Not sure exactly who Rowan would play next, I know it has something to do with what happens in the South Rowan/ Lexington series. It's hard to believe that Rowan is 4 wins away from another state tournament appearance considering the pitching situation this year. Rowan is definitely going to use these next three days to their benefit.

west boy, the way I understand it, Rowan's situation is based on the SR/Lex series. The highest seeded Northern Division team remaining will play the lowest seeded Southern Division team remaining and vice versa (I think). Therefore, if Lexington wins, Rowan would play the higher seed (probably #1 Burlington; they were up 2-0 at last check). If SR wins, Rowan would play the lower seeded team (b/c Rowan is above SR in the standings); this means that SR would play Burlington (assuming they advance) and Rowan would likely play Randolph (if they finish off Kernersville; they're up 2-0).

tj21 or anybody else in the know, let me know if I'm wrong here.

Burlington finished off their series tonight, so I guess that means that's who Rowan plays? I still though it had something to do with the outcome of the SR/ Lexy series.

If Lexington wins, yes. If South wins, they are seeded lower than Rowan and they would get Burlington. This is my understanding of the third round. If I'm not right here, I'll delete what I said, but I think the scenario is:

    a) Lexington wins. Rowan gets Burlington
    b) South Rowan wins: Rowan gets Randolph/K'ville winner

that's correct legionguy...and I hate to say it but unless Kernersville has some drastic heart change and picks it up a lot, then Randolph County will win this series tomorrow night.

Legionguy is correct, Rowan will not know who they are playing until conclusion of the South/Lexy series. Top seed North plays lower seed South, and vice versa.
