Trust me........the East Coast Pro is worth it. What he would gain toward his future in Legion ball would pale significantly when compared to the ECP.

    commitment??

What about the full commitment that is made when you join a team, any team not just A.L.
Every chance we get, why not let's teach our young people what true commitment means. It has always disappointed me to see guys or girls in sports not live up to commitments. Would not college coaches see situations like this as a negative impression if a kid abandons his AL team?

Just an observation by me; I have nobody involved in baseball.

Bingo, someone finally get's it. Too many parents push their kids to do just this. Unfortunately, this will never change. And if i were the coach(and i know a lot say thank goodness your not)(never have coached, just follow the game), he would not rejoin the team. Unfortunnately most college coaches could care less, they are just as bad as the parents.

    Thanks EOR for saying it.

he has a verbal to carolina reportedly and is said to be a likely first round draft pick do you really think he needs the exposure?

although with many pitchers not pitching to him and just hitting him instead of walking him i would probably leave to.

JM15, or anyone else, can you provide the overall won/loss records of the 4 remaining eastern teams from Area 1 & 2? All I have are records from the west:

Area 1: Garner vs. Pitt County
Area 2: Fayetteville vs. Morehead City
    Area 3: Randolph County(27-11) at Kannapolis(28-7)
    Area 4: Caldwell County(20-13) at Pineville(28-6)
Host team at state tourney: High Point(3-15)

    Thanks for any more info...

I have no dog in this fight, but I can't go with you on this one, Braves. I don't care how high caliber the Showcase may be, the rules clearly say a kid is ineligible if he participates.

Showcases are for self, which is OK when it is done at the right time. But not during the Legion tournament. There are tons of opportunities during the Fall. Plus to showcase means the kid has to save his arm if he is a pitcher for his own gain. And the time away from games hurts his program. That is just not necessary nor is it right.

Hey TJ, I still have the bullseye on Kannapolis' back. My pick to win it all. Of course I haven't seen a couple of the teams from Area 1...

    Best of luck.

UK7Dook3,,,,, thanks, but we still have some work in the Area 3 finals to do before we're even there yet. Remember High Point(3-15) is taking Area 3's other spot at the state tourney,,, and Randolph County looks very impressive.

50-50 chance of winning a legion championship ?
once in a lifetime chance to go to ECP possibly to get noticed and make millions of dollars ..
i know what my choice would be.. most of these legion kids are close to 18 or already 18.. they are adults.. just like any job in life . you have to look after yourself....:twocents:

EOR, Honker, etc., if you were avid readers of the board you would know that it's been previously stated MB had shared his committments with the coaches prior to the legion season. Opportunities like the ones in front of this young man are not typical of many players in our state and his desire to play legion when most players in his situation would have simply said no is commendable.
