    Cary 5 Garner 4

Good game, Garner jumped out to a 3-0 lead after 2 innings, but Cary came back with 2 in the 5th, 1 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th, and 1 in the 8th. Garner scored 1 in the 9th, thanks to an error which would have ended the game, but that was it.

The first batter of the game was called out on strikes, prompting the Garner coach to go into a tirade, which got a well deserved warning from the home plate ump. However, after that, it was a tight strike zone for the pitchers from both teams, and that seemed to favor the Cary pitchers, as Garner walked a bunch. Kind of justice in my opinion.

Cary goes to 10-3, 7-2 conference.

    Raleigh Post 1 ... 11; Apex ... 9

    June 22, 2009 - Apex

A very good back and forth game as the starting pitchers for both teams battled. Polack from Apex did a good job of minimizing damage when he got into trouble as did Dorsett of Raleigh.

Dorsett, ahead 9 to 5 in the seventh, was relieved by Jurek after Apex scored 2 runs with 2 outs. Jurek allowed the 2 inherited runners to score - leaving Dorsett with a "no decision".

In the top of the 9th, with 2 outs, runners at 2nd and 3rd, and the game tied at 9, Apex opted to intentionally walk #2 batter, Dorsett, to pitch to #3 batter, Cam Richards. On the 7th pitch of the at bat, Richards delivered a 2-out 2 RBI single up the middle which provided the winning margin.

Wit its 3 game winning streak, Post 1 now moves to 6 - 6 on the season; 5 - 6 in the conference.
