    Kernersville 2

A well played and pitched game from both sides. K-ville has a solid team and played well.

    Durham improves to 16-5.

    Cary woes

I can't comment on past years, just the past two. Last year, Cary was very thin in pitching, lost 1 of their top 3 pitchers to injury, then didn't hit very well in the playoffs against Clayton.

This year, one starter just got very sick this week, another had a chance to play on the AL-USA Baseball tournament on the same team as Byrce Harper, and a third starter had some other showcase opportunities. A fourth player was unhappy earlier with the situation, and may have found other showcase opportunities. And for whatever reason, the team has just stopped hitting, plain and simple, and when they get several runs behind, they are making a bunch of unforced errors - clearly trying too hard to make great plays and in reality making poor plays.

I believe everyone (except one) should be back for the playoffs this week, so things may improve, but it's not the situation you want to be in going into the playoffs.

Cary got a forfeit from Kerr Lake today, but then lost their third straight conference game (actually played) to Apex 2-0. That means Cary has scored just 1 run in the last two losses. Cary goes to 13-6, 10-5 conference, and play at Clayton Sunday and I'm assuming the winner gets 2nd place in the conference. I believe Cary will be still missing 2 or 3 starters tomorrow, so not the best of circumstances for Cary.

same story, different year. i am a huge follower of cary-area baseball, as i have been for years. they always find a way to fizzle out in legion ball. you can ask anyone remotely close to legion ball and they will tell you the same thing.

here's hoping to turning the ship around. there's a lot of talent on that post 67 roster. sooner or later it will come together.

Rocky Mount Post 58 finished the regular season at 8-2 overall and 7-1 in division play. Despite starting the season late due to the Northern Nash playoffs run and coach Matt Bryan assisting as a coach for Eastern Wayne in the state championship series, Post 58 has scored 129 runs in eight division games — averaging 16.2 runs a game. In the 10 regular-season games, Post 58’s batters have hit 20 home runs.
