I have a rooting interest as my son is playing for Post 1 this summer. Of course, I'll be recruiting as well...so let me know of any unsigned seniors on any of these legion teams.

Congrats to Raleigh. The numbers just didn't add up – 13 LOB, inability to take advantage of 10 walks...Post 13's four 9th-inning errors were a fitting conclusion after an AWOL offense failed to support some strong pitching.

    Raleigh Post 1 @ Wilson Post 13

My son was responsible for 6 of those walks...a lot of rust on lefty as he had not pitched in a real game since the Babe Ruth Southeast Regional last summer. Dad was proud as Nate pitched into and out of trouble. A leadoff triple in the bottom of the 4th followed by a single through the middle (Nate darned near snagged it) plated Wilson's only run against him.

    For Post 1: (unofficial)

    Nate Smith - 4 IP, 1 run, 1 earned run, 3 k's, 5 BB, 1 HB, 82 pitches.
    Will Newell - 3 IP, 1 Run, 1 earned run, 1 K
    Matt Jurek(WP) - 2 IP, 0 runs, 2 k's

Bentley Massey, starting pitcher from Wilson pitched an outstanding game - only allowing 1 unearned run in 4 innings of work. This was the 1st time I had seen the young man pitch - outstanding. In fact, all of Wilson's pitchers are very good.

    Garner vs. Edenton

After falling behind 4-0, Post 232 rallied to tie the game at five on a two run single by Pat Monahan.

But in the top of the ninth, Post 40 put a four spot on the board as Garner lost 9-5.

The loss drops Garner to 3-2 on the season. They host Asheboro tonight at 8:00 in the Area 1/Area 3 Challenge.

There are three games at Garner today and tomorrow with 3 Area 1 Teams (Garner, Cary, Durham) aganist 3 Area 3 Teams (Edenton, Asheboro, and Burlington). Game times on Saturday are 1, 4:30 and 8. And Sunday at 12, 3:30 and 7.

Area I vs Area III Challenge

    Friday May 29 - Cary Post 67 beats Asheboro Post 45 (13-11)
Cary was ahead the whole game, at one point 12-5 (I believe), Asheboro fought back, helped out by alot of walks from Cary pitchers. Game ended with base loaded for Asheboro and 2 outs, Cary catcher Drew Woodall picked off the base runner on 2nd (nice spinning tag by SS Eric Brady).

    Saturday May 30 - Cary Post 67 beats Burlington Post 63 (11-6)
Again Cary led most of the way. Burlington had a couple of HRs, Cary had one by Brian Rhino.
