The two teams that won their respective divisions meet in the Area III finals. This should be an entertaining series.Eastern Randolph should have a slight advantage since their pitching is well rested.Kannapolis' Lucas Dalton threw 9 innings in a two hit shutout to wrap up the South Rowan series on thursday night. He will not pitch in this short series...only a best of three.

Game 1......at Eastern Randolph friday night.

Expect Z. Ward to start game one for Kannapolis.

Both teams advance to the state tournament which starts friday August 1st.Good luck to both teams.

KtownYank, the strength of this Kannapolis team is their depth on the mound, so I'm not sure if I agree that Eastern Randolph necessarily has an advantage here. You're right that Lucas Dalton is basically "spent" after pitching 9 innings last night and he won't pitch in this series at all; however, we have everyone else available. Not sure how much Ward will pitch either, but look for Ketner, Goody, Patterson and Sherrill to all get quality innings which will help keep them all sharp for next weekend in Fayetteville.

Good Luck to both Kannapolis and Eastern Randolph and hopefully nobody will get hurt.

ER actually has great depth on the mound as well. Traditionally ER has always been able to hit (which they still do very well), but this year they have between 6-8 arms that are all pretty quality and can get people out. They will be tough to beat, but it should be a great series.

elonhokie, can you tell me, does E.Randolph play their legion games at ER high school?

And yes, I didn't mean to slight ER with my comment about Kann's pitching, I DO know that ER is a very good team. I was only saying that Kannapolis will have an opportunity to pitch a lot of people in this series, and this shouldn't hurt us like it would hurt most teams.

Am looking forward to seeing 2 great teams and wish both clubs well next weekend at Fayetteville too.

Btw, have you heard that we're only playing 2 out of 3?
