    Rowan leads 2-0!

    Rowan County 7
    Mocksville-Davie 6

Rowan rallies from a 5-1 deficit to win 7-6 and take a commanding 2-0 series lead which switches over to Rich Park Sunday night. This was one of the better games of the season by far, at least for RC. Mocksville starter D.J. Webb started and had Rowan off-balance and down 5-1, it didn't look promising for RC. BUT, Rowan is never out of a game at Newman. Corbin Shive and Trey Holmes were the big hitters for RC. Holmes launched his seventh homer of the season in the first inning (first pitch) to get the home team jump started with a 1-0 lead. Webb settled in after that, before Rowan got to him in the fifth. Rowan starter Billy Veal has seen better nights. Veal's teammates picked him up after giving up the three-run homer to Jess Cartner.

Not sure who Rowan will start Sunday night, possibly Cody Laws.
Mocksville's probable may be Ryan Carter. This is of course a must win for Mocksville so you may see anybody and everybody if the starter does not go the distance.

Game#2 High Point @ Winston Salem

    High Point 17
    Winston Salem 9

    High Point takes 2-0 lead

This was an ugly ball game to watch, and be the score keeper. The 1st 4 innings took 2 hours. There where 15 combined walks thru 4 innings. The High Point starter had 60 plus pitches in the 1st inning alone. Winston Salem commited 8 errors. And the balls that where used....WOW...But High Point hit em better than Winston. Balls had no bounce off the bat whatsovever and it wasn't the hitters.

Game 3 scheduled for noon on Sunday @ High Point

In the Area III South, all of the higher seeded teams lead 2-0. All of them will go for sweeps at home tonight, except for Rowan which goes to Mocksville because of a scheduling rearrangement.

High Point wins the first round series 3-0. Bo Rein got the start and win. Matt Dillon closed it out and those are all the details I know.

Rowan sweeps their first round series with a rout of homestanding Mocksville-Davie at Rich Park. Mocksville led early 1-0 and 2-1 but could not stop the Rowan bats. Rowan got the big hits when they needed it. Corbin Shive hit his eighth home run of the legion season. Alex Litaker, Parker Gobbel and Cody Laws also got work in for Post 342. Litaker was struck in the nose with ball as it was being thrown from the backstop after the ball had went passed from catcher Matt Miller. Miller threw the ball in trying to throw out the runner. Litaker had to leave the game and was eventually taken to the hospital. Rowan will play the winner of Stanly/ Lexington starting Wednesday at Newman Park.
