I do not have the exact details yet (I could not make it to the game) But my understanding is that Kevin Sanders hit a grand slam (#15) in the top of the 10th and High Point wins game three 11-7 against West Forsyth. High Point leads series 2-1. Game four tomorrow (Thursday) at Finch Field at 6:00 pm

got a second hand game report by phone. High Point came back from a 7-1 deficit and won it on a Kevin Sanders grand slam. The kid is absolutely on fire.

High Point goes up 2-1 and can close it out at home tomorrow.

bahj sounds like we got the same report. I can't make the game tomorrow either. I wonder who pitched tonight for High Point

 

I will post the details when I receive them from Coach Shore. I believe we threw Justin Morrison, Tyler Southcott, and I am not sure who else. I had a bad connection with him on the bus........

 

I hope Sanders saves some of these HR's for Guilford Tech!!!!

Sanders' slam lifts Post 87 in 10th

CLEMMONS – Kevin Sanders, who hit a pair of grand slams in one game earlier this summer, slugged another key slam Tuesday night for the High Point Post 87 Junior HiToms.

Post 87 prevailed 11-7 in 10 innings over Western Forsyth and took a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five American Legion Baseball Area III North second-round series. The Junior HiToms will go for the series win tonight at 6 at Finch Field.

The winner of the third round, which begins Saturday, punches its ticket to the Legion state tournament beginning July 23 in Asheboro.

Post 87 (16-8) didn’t appear headed for extra-inning heroics. Western, the No. 1 seed, jumped on fourth-seeded Post 87 for a 7-1 lead through four frames. But relief pitcher Tyler Southcott came through with a shutout in the seventh, eighth and ninth to keep his team in it, and David Coffey struck out the side on the bottom of the 10th for the win.

Coffey also figured mightily in regulation. Western had a runner on third base with one out in the ninth when a fly ball was lifted to left field. Coffey camped under it and fired a laser to catcher Houston Ison to prevent the winning run from scoring.

Post 87’s offense came through with three runs in the fifth inning and three more in the seventh. DeSean Anderson connected for a solo homer in the seventh. Hits from Ison and Sanders followed, and Kyle Morrison tied the game at 7-all with a single.

The winner of the next round does not punch it's ticket to the state tournament, there is another round after that and the winner of that round goes. Area III is host and syate championship is in Asheboro so Randolph County has automatic bid.

Zack Smith for Rowan is a monster. I think he has gotten out twice in 3 games. he hit 2 hrs tonight.

Thomas Allen(East Rowan/UNCP) started for rowan lasting 2 innings before he appeared to be injured.
Will Johnson(East Rowan) and Parker Gobbel(East Rowan) threw in relief.

Thomas Allen was not injured. He become overheated during the game (Code Red Ozone level yesterday afternoon) which led to an asthma attack. He was looked at by the EMT's at the game and was treated. Thank goodness those folks are at the games! We appreciate their help in what was at the time a scary situation. He is doing fine and will be at the game today and hopefully will pitch in the next day or two.
