Surry's still missing a good part of their team with East Surry being in the state finals.

    ROWAN CO

    ROWAN CO 13 E RANDOLPH 4
SS FOR ROWAN DOES HAVE QUICKNESS AND ROWAN HIT THE BALL WELL, BUT THE KEY TO THIS GAME WAS ER 9 ERRORS IN THE FIRST 4 INNINGS. 9 UNEARNED RUNS
ROOWAN STILL A VERY GOOD TEAM.

Rowan shortstop Justin Roland has EXTREMELY good quickness, in fact Salisbury paper said just yesterday he's the best leadoff batter to come out of Rowan County since Cal Hayes, Jr.,,,, and Roland is only a HS junior, so he will get better. What impresses me about Roland is that he gets to every ball, and despite his short height, his arm is usually one of the strongest arms on the field. The kid just makes plays, period, defensively and offensively.

As for Rowan, they are now 5-0 and the rich just get richer. Former Catawba College pitcher Lee Dupree is no longer attending Catawba so he is now eligible to pitch for Rowan Coach Gantt, so he becomes the #4 man in their rotation, thats right a college pitcher is #4. wow.

Also, in Area 3 South action last night,,,, Mooresville beat South Rowan 7-3 in a non-league game.

Why'd he leave Catawba and college baseball just to come back home and play Legion ball for the same coach?

I can't explain why he left Catawba College,,,,, I just reported what I found out today. But when he left Catawba and became eligible for the Rowan legion team again,,,,, I'm pretty sure that was a no-brainer.

Coach Gantt is not the issue here,,, these kids dream to put on that uniform that says ROWAN.

Btw, I'm not from Rowan County.

    From the Salisbury Post ...

"Dupre played at Catawba this spring, and ordinarily wouldn't be able to play for Catawba coach Gantt in the summer because of NCAA rules. But Dupre is no longer enrolled at Catawba.
"I just didn't do what I needed to do to stay at Catawba," Dupre said. "I'm talking to people at Wilkes Community College, but I have no clue what I'll be doing next year. "

Sounds like an academic issue to me.

Yea, that's what it is. It has to be. It also seems as if he's been a DII pitcher, he could pitch some place besides WCC. Surry, Pitt, Louisburg, Lenoir, etc. Somebody's gotta have a spot for a proven pitcher.
