Great pitching tonight by John Tuttle against a very good South Rowan ballclub. However, what I was equally impressed with, was how Ryan Goodman inherited a bases loaded no-out situation in the 8th facing the meat of South's order, and he got 2 K's and a FO to get out of the jam. Jacob Wright looked good in closing the 9th for the 5-3 final. Congrats guys.

    Wilkes County 1

    WP: Nick Smith

Wilkes leads 1-0 through six innings but Rowan awakes and takes care of business to stay unbeaten in Area III Southern Division play. The Wilkes starting pitcher (Bryant) was very effective, but his team could not muster any offense against Smith and the Rowan defense. Rowan started a little lackadaisical out there initially, but finally tied the score and went from there offensively. Rowan is home against Randolph County Sunday night.

    Ouch!

    Rowan County 29
    Randolph County 6

    7 innings

Rowan scores ten runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looks back. Randolph pitchers could not throw strikes and struggled to say the least. Brothers Trey and Noah Holmes both hit homeruns in the same inning. Rowan starter Forrest Buchanan started and was very effective going four innings. Rowan is off Monday and has a big league game at Lexington on Tuesday.

Rowan improves to 7-1 overall and remains at 5-0 in Area III South.
