    Burlington @ Winston Salem

    Burlington 8
    Winston Salem 12
    8 innings...

This game was scheduled to start at 2pm at Hanes Park. But Burlington didn't know that as they thought it was a 7pm start time.....Burlington then needed to make a quick trip to Winston Salem. Game starts around 4pm...And changed to 7 innings because of the delay. Burlington jumps off the bus and scores 4 runs in the 1st for an early lead then 2 more in the 2nd. Winston Salem fights back to stay in the game. Tied 7-7 going into the bottom of the 7th, with the bases loaded and 2 out Jeff Fansler rips one to the right centerfield, looks like game over, nope, # 24 for Burlington makes a diving grab to end the 7th. Believe his name is McPherson ? # 24 then doubles in the go ahead run for Burlington in the top half of the 8th. Winston Salem loads the bases with 1 out in the home half of the 8th and Andy Brown is HBP to score the tying run. Michael Axe then hits a 1st pitch walk off grand slam for a 12-8 Post 55 victory.

    7 innings

Rowan wins their fifth straight 10-run rule game as they rout Wilkes to improve to 12-3 in the Area III Southern Division. Trey Holmes (Pitt CC rising sophomore) doubled twice, singled and walked twice to pace the Rowan offense, which is really turning some heads lately. Russell Michalec finished 3-for-5 on his effort. Nick Smith went the distance earning the complete game four-hit victory on the mound. Wilkes fell to 5-8 in the division. Rowan is off Sunday until the regular seson finale at home against Mocksville.

Rowan finishes the regular season 13-3 in the Area III Southern Division as they romp past Mocksville Monday night. Noah Holmes had the big blow with a three-run homer to make it 8-2 to break things open for RC. Forrest Buchanan started for Rowan and gave three strong innings. Alex Litaker, Parker Gobbel, Cody Laws, Ethan Marsh and Preston Troutman all got some work for Rowan to get ready for the postseason. Mocksville starter Ryan Carter took the loss. Parker Gobbel earned the win for Rowan. Jon Crucitti was stellar at the plate and in the field for Rowan making an outstanding catch against the centerfield wall to rob Mocksville of a hit in the ninth. Rowan will open the playoffs at Newman Park on Friday against a yet to be determined opponent.

All star game is Wednesday at McCrary Park (Randolph). Several players should represent Rowan County.
