The Hickory @ Shelby game was a good one. Glad I was able to go. One of the Hickory fans won the 50/50.

I thought I heard while out running around today that there could have been a game 1 in Cherryville tonight, but Caldwell wouldn't agree to start the series one day early.

It appears (from reading some of these posts) that Cherryville is still Caldwell's biggest rival, but........ is Caldwell still the biggest rival Cherryville has?
Can't learn if you don't ask questions, right?

yes ...the biggest rival by far....when these two teams get together it raises the bar on coaches, players and fans...its great baseball and the emotions are always high...you can feel it when you walk in the stadium.

I don't know about Calwell being Cherryville's biggest rival. Shelby vs. Cherryville is a huge rival as well, and being separated by only 12 miles doesn't hurt either. Shelby and Caldwell is a big rival too. I think if any two of these three teams get together and play, the intensity of that ballgame will be the same as the others. They are all rivals, no more or less than the other.

    round 2 upset??

I think that Burke Co. Post 21 will upset the top seeded Pineville in the second rd. Burke won all three first round games by the mercy rule and are on a roll heading into this series. They have all the Patton hs players back and are really playing well. Hall of Fame coach Ron Swink has the Burke boys fired up. I predict Burke in 4. You heard it here first.

This is very true...Cherryville certainly has more than one rival as Caldwell has more than one. As for Caldwell; Cherryville, Shelby, Rutherford, Pineville is probably their bigest. Just about anybody Caldwell plays has a burr under their saddle when it comes to playing Caldwell County. Most winning programs like Caldwell has a target on their backs, as well as Cherryville. But with that being said, I really don't think any rivals match Caldwell and Cherryville which goes back 20 years.

I can't wait to get this one started. I've been away for a few days, down at Myrtle Beach seeing if i could find any Caldwell players still on vacation. I'll be checking in periodically tonight with updates during the game in case anybody is interested.

Happy Birthday Carolina Man!! Are you still in NC and able to catch any of these games this week?

Still in NC...won't be able to go to Cherryville tonight (Cookout with family)
but I will be in NC until the 13th. It should be a great series and I'm really looking forward to it. We need to build a cage around third base to keep Day and Bobby Dale in the box..lol...have a great time in myrtle beach
