    Tim MacIvor (Porter Ridge) pitched 6 scoreless innings as well did the Lincoln starter Sherrill. Lincoln touched MacIvor up in the 7th and scored 2 runs, but stranded 2 runners in scoring position with 1 out when Justin McDowell (Forest Hills) came in from left field and struck out two. In the bottom of the 7th Monroe cut the lead to 2-1, and then picked up where they left off scoring 7 in the 8th.

    Gastonia is 6-4 and Charlotte is 4-4 (I think) in Area IV East play. Gastonia and Huntersville are now a half game out of first place with Union County 6-3.

    Gastonia plays in a double-header at Lincoln County and Charlotte plays at home Tuesday against Union County

    Sean Pope 2-5, a 2-run homer early in the game and a grand slam in the top of the 9th
    Steven Pfeiffer hit a 2-run homer to tie the game in the top of the 9th.
    Benji Jackson and Michael Russell also hit home runs for Huntersville early.

    Huntersville is now 6-3.

    Union County lost at Charlotte Tuesday night, no details. That loss puts Hunterville in first place and, UC at 6-4 and in a tie for second with Gastonia going into tonight. Charlotte is now at 5-4.

    UC and Monroe did not get out of the first inning at Walter Bickett. No make-up date I've heard yet, but probably early Saturday from what I could gather.Monroe travels to Huntersville tomorrow and UC hosts Newell.

    Monroe overcame playing without graduating Forest Hills and Parkwood senior players and a 6-0 deficit scoring 4 in the final inning to beat Huntersville in a long rain-delayed night. Jordan West led Monroe with 3 RBI's, Jonathan Hawkins got the go-ahead 2-RBI double in the last inning. Brent Thomas came pitched a strong game in long relief. Monroe plays at home against Newell Friday.

    Union County's game with Newell Thursday night was rained out

    Monroe-6
    Newell-5

    Monroe gets its 3rd win in a row, really hitting their stride it seems like. Lance Gower (Piedmont) led Monroe offensively with a home run and 2 RBI's and Tyler Griffin (Forest Hills) also chipped in with a 2-run homer in the 1st. Yates Doby (Porter Ridge) pitched a complete game and most of Newell's runs were unearned.
