I understand NC will not have an ASA National qualifier this 2005 year. Does anyone have the inside scoop on which states will have them. I heard Tenn and Ga but can not find any updated info. The 16U qualifier is to be held in Burlington. Thanks for any assistance.

NC ASA officials again dropping the ball after years of not pushing aggressively ahead with girls fastpitch softball. i have found that most announce them in Janurary but either one in TN or GA would suit our organization just fine! Chattanoga/Atlanta beats burlington anyday for many reasons!

    L. Blues,& CF
I mentioned about a month ago that ASA may have a major announcment forthcoming.I don't knowall the details, but have heard that they are going to make a run at playing more tours in Charlotte this year.Believe there are some tentitive dates for around 7-8 tours, with about half of them during school ball,& other half after school ball is over.Maybe this will give them a chance to get their ducks in a row before the olders gals come to play.Have also heard that there is someone new possibly doing the JO Fastpitch, that is really wanting to make ASA the top sanction in NC,this is in the Charlotte area.Maybe they can do a National Qualifier in Charlotte, if possible. From what I understand all but 1 tour. will be at Renassiance Park, with the other at Nevin.I believe that if ran right, all the teams in the greater Char. area,& ASA being the premier sanction, this could go pretty good.I myself would love to see more ASA in the Char. area. How about a little input on this, from some of you coaches out there.

I know of an organization looking to promote softball in the Charlotte area. If you will, someone to work in conjunction with ASA as a lead group to help ASA develop. I talked with them some months ago and gave them info on the ASA people for state and local levels. I told them ASA is one good organization and they were lacking in the Charlotte region.

Maybe something has become of it. If it is the organization I talked with, they are very knowlegable and would do things right. It would take a few years to develop, but would be great for Charlotte.

It could help develop a State Qualifier as I believe they are based on the number of registered teams in a state. It is my understanding that this is the reason there is not a NC State Qualifier. There are not enough registered teams, so the qualifier becomes all of Region 4 (please correct me if someone knows otherwise). This also causes NC to only receive one birth to the nationals.

It looks as if we may be barking up the right tree for once!
