This weekend, Spartanburg, SC was the site for the ASA #4 Regional Tournament. Two berths were awarded to the ASA 18U "A" division. Several North Carolina teams competed along with teams from South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. The championship game was between the East Cobb Bullets and The Carolina Cardinals! The Cardinals were the winner's bracket champion and played a very tough East Cobb team from Georgia, winners of the loser's bracket. But the Georgia team had already played four games yesterday prior to meeting the Cardinals. But besides winning the Regionals and earning a high seeded berth to the Nationals, the Cardinals held ALL their opponets scoreless! They played 4 tough teams this weekend, including The Phoenix Storm (Ga.), The Diamonds(?), The Carolina Crushers(NC) and East Cobb (Ga.). All the girls played great and we are really proud of their accomplishments. These girls are hard workers but more importantly, have wonderful attitudes.

Brooke and Crystal shared duties on the mound this weekend. I don't know who pitched the first game against the Storm, however, Crystal did come in during the 8th inning to close the game for the Cardinals, who scored a run in the 8th inning to win, 1-0. The second game against the Diamonds was suspended after 1 1/2 innings of play on Saturday due to rain with Crystal pitching. On Sunday, Brooke resumed the game and Crystal came in to relief in the bottom of the 6th. The Cardinals won 2-0. Facing the Carolina Crushers for the championship round of the winner's bracket, Crystal pithched a complete game to take the win, 1-0. Later in the evening, Brooke pitched a complete game against the East Cobb team, winning 4-0. The girls had some great back-up in the field, however, getting out of bases loaded jams several times. Once, with NO outs. Some excellant fielding and throw downs by Teresa saved a couple of games. Everyone is a contributing member on that team!
