Big game this Friday Night in Icard.

Bandys comes to Icard with an undefeated conference record after surprising Newton Conover a few weeks back.

East Burke has 2 losses on the yr but one of those was to undefeated Hibriten and the conference loss to Newton. If East Burke can defeat Bandys and slow down Kyle Houser's passing attack, there will be a 3 way tie for 1st place in the 1st year of the CVAC 2A conference.

Whats the predictions on this game? East Burke is still just as good as they always were even in the 2A bracket.

Hey Icard, going 2A may be a blessing in disguise because no longer do they have to be competing against Indy and Butler every year for state!!

Big key is of course East Burke's ability to stop the pass. Bandys is going to throw it a lot and East Burke is a grind it out, ball control type of team. Classic match-up of one style against another. Should be a good game, give me Bandys by a TD.

I hope Bandy's wins, and I think they will.

    Mix it up

I'll mix the predictions up here a little bit and I'll take EB in this one. Like Wise One said, this is the classic matchup of a style vs another style.

Maybe the Bandys advantage in the game with NC was that NC relied on speed and Bandys has speed to match? EB can rely on smash mouth football so IDK what to expect. I expect to see a very well coached football game that may be the classic in the area this Friday Night.

This game is gonna be huge! East Burke's explosive running game and Bandys' explosive passing game. Both defenses have proven to be very stubborn so this should be a classic in the making! I will have to pick EB but Bandys should be favored.

I will have to agree this is a huge game; not only in the CVAC but it will also have huge implications on the playoff seedings 2A and 2AA. Bandys will prove to be the best passing team EB has faced this year, ready or not. EB will bring its strong rushing game. IMO EB will handle the passing game from Bandys good enough to say you will only beat us running. Bandys will get yards through the air, EB will bend but not break. Debro will play a huge roll in this game he can go get the ball, EB will also get their yards through the air with him. Look for Carson to be the diff. in the running game for EB. Returns are huge for EB kickoff and punt Debro will stand out here. I am still saying both teams up and down the field; 42 to 35 EB. But who knows good luck to both.

Masseys has Bandys as a 1 point fav.

Masseys actually has it tied because it gives EB a point for home field advantage and I do believe they will receive some advantage as it will be Bandys first trip to intimidating Danny Williams Field.

I posted this also under the "Scores 10-30" Thread and thought I'd just copy and post it here as well since it is dealing with this game in particular!

    Bandys 28
    E. Burke 12

Game started out very fast as East Burke fumbled after holding Bandys on their 1st possession. They fumbled few plays later and gave Bandys a short field. Bandys took advantage up 6-0 (PAT blocked). Later East Burke got the ball and had to punt on 4th down from around their own 30.. Well... Debro got flustered by the rush and decided to pull it down. BIG MISTAKE.

Bandys took over but went for it twice on 4th downs. 1st time successful. 2nd time not. East Burke got the ball and proceeded to do absolutely nothing with it except throw Interceptions and let Bandys make miraculous catch one behind the other.

With about 5 minutes left in the 2nd & trailing 21-0, East Burke finally converted and got their 1st 1st down of the game. They continued to gain 4 or 5 more and punched it in the endzone with 30 yrd pass to Dustin Wilson. PAT also blocked so score going into halftime was 21-6.

3rd qtr started with the longest drive I've ever saw in high school football. East Burke received opening kickoff and drove it for 7 minutes down the field to make it 21-12 after they fumbled short of the goal line on the 2pt try. Bandys wasn't to be shaken with the possible collapse as they drove right back down the field. Bandys was aided with some horrible mental mistakes by EB such as hitting WR Seth Cranfill 5 yrds out of bounds after he made a great catch inside redzone. Bandys punched it in and went up 28-12.

Both teams traded turnovers and punts in the 4th as Bandys held on and shut down the attempt by the Cavs to make a 3 way tie at the top of the CVAC. Bandys more then likely will wrap up an undefeated conference record as they play at home next week against Bunker Hill who lost a tough fought game at home vs Maiden tonight 21-10. East Burke will travel and play their last regular season game at South Iredell.

Great job by both teams tonight. Got chippy at times, but it was 2 great high school programs fighting for every inch on the field and that's exactly what it is all about this time of year!

Bandys was the better team tonight and came out on top. Referees were horrendous!!!! Bad call after bad call. It was the worst refs I've seen in High School. They failed to administer penalties correctly such as offensive passing interference but not administer the loss of down that comes with it. (I was livid!) The refs didn't cost EB the game but they let this game get out of control with players talking trash. The passing interference late in the game against EB was the worst call I think I have ever seen.
