If I was in his shoes, I'd take the GED, graduate with the 06 class and go pro in June. He's got nothing left to prove as far as high school baseball.

Don't know Madison well, but I don't think he's competed on the national level yet.....but it won't matter come this time next year. If he stays healthy and continues to improve, he'll be at the top of the list soon enough.

Baseball America is based in Durham. If they can't catch wind of a 6'4" lefty who can reportedly throw 95 mph on the #1 4A team in the same state, then I'm taking their top prospect list with a grain of salt.

Agreed. Sounds like BA needs to get out of the office some and do some on site research, instead of making their lists based on the thoughts of a handful of big time D-1 coaches, who just might be promoting their own recruits. We have all seen over the past few years how some of our own NC showcase teams have competed on a national level against the so called upper echelon travel squads. Done pretty well without many of the "top 100" on their squads. I think it is politically correct for BA to spread it around. Same as in their rankings.

Actually I think the BA top prospect lists borrow more from Perfect Game's data base than D1 coaches, but your premise is correct. PG just might be promoting their own clients moreso than the kid who plays legion ball instead of attending their showcases.

You're exactly right....Baseball America's Prospect Plus relies heavily on Perfect Game's rankings. Like it or not, it's a fact.

If I could make only one suggestion to Madison Bumgardner, he needs to go to PG's Jupiter tournament in October....and a summer with the Midland Redskins. There are certainly scouts that know of him, but if he went to Jupiter...everyone would know of him.

The bottom line, if you want to be known nationally, you have to play nationally
