Braves... just let me know when you are looking at heading to the friendly confines of MS Deal here in Granite.

I know we have this discussion/arguement every year on what is the best way to get noticed. I can tell you that there are teams that know who Madison Bumgarner is. I am not saying just birddogs or associate scouts, I have gotten several questions to the website and to me in person about him and his plans. So Madison need not worry about BA or any other list, his name is out there.

Thanks DS, I will take you up on your offer.

Allow me to make this one point and I will let it rest. When a ML club makes an investment in a Top Draft pick, they will be more thorough in their evaluations than a team of mother-in-laws judging a potential son. They will evaluate you based on personality tests, personal interviews and of course your talent. They will comb your background to the degree that they will know your mother's favorite color, your dad's favorite dog and how will you react to living with grown men wanting to take your job.

Most MLB clubs are moving away from the HS player in their top draft picks. So, you see very few that are being drafted. With the few that are, you better believe those few have been evaluated on how well they have done against the top talent across the country. How did he do against a Kyle Drabek, a Chris Marrera, a Justin Upton?....and not just once...but how did he do against them consistently.

There is less than a half dozen pitchers this year that have been rated as potential high draft picks. Maybe 2 will get drafted. There are no secrets in baseball. But it is a BIG business....these guys (Pros) are thorough, conservative and their jobs are on the line. The days of a scout driving down a country road and spotting a potential player throwing rocks at a bull are long gone. They are sophisticated in their evaluations and make their recommendations based on information resourced more than trying to get into the CIA.

Good post. You mentioned signability earlier and it is important as well.
Show me a kid who stays loyal to his legion team instead of going where the grass is greener and I'll show you a kid who's word can probably be trusted.
I heard Archie Manning couldn't even stop for gas in Mississippi after Peyton committed to UT.

a scout doing his job will travel down the long country road to find the best talent around. There are alot of poor kids who can't afford to travel on these so called elite travel teams. So yes i beleive if you can play they will find you.

Most of the scouting miles done on long country roads these days are in places like the Dominican Republic, but if you are a great left-handed pitcher who throws 95 or a true 5 tool player, scouts will be drivin and droolin.
