I'll continue to add information about players on the App. State team.
ASU should be one of the top 3 teams in the SoCon this year.
If we can avoid major injuries, ASU just might make the NCAA tournament this year.

Some of the key players from North Carolina:

Jason Rook (Jr./P/OF - Western Guilford HS)
    Garrett Sherrill (Jr./P - A.L. Brown HS)
    Aubrey Edens (Jr./P - D.H. Conley HS)
Matt Andress (So./P - South Mecklenburg HS)
Zach Quate (Jr./P - Wakefield HS)

David Towarnicky (So./1B - New Bern HS)
Wes Hobson (So./2B - North Forsyth HS)
    Nick DeRose (Jr./3B - R.J. Reynolds HS)
Isaac Harrow (Jr./DH/3B - Hickory HS)
David Rubinstein (Jr./OF - South Mecklenburg HS)
Rand Smith (Jr./OF - South Brunswick HS)
Jerod Faggart (So./C - Northwest Cabarrus HS)
Adam Beasley (Sr./C - Hendersonville HS)

    Craig,

I'm glad Wes has landed on his feet at Penn State. I hope his elbow heals properly and he gets a lot of playing time this spring. Nick is missing Wes already. Two years of being throwing partners, bus ride companions, teammates and friends makes for a big adjustment now that Wes is gone.

I remember people used to joke with my son: when he took his shirt off you could not tell whether he was coming or going. The back looked just like the front.

I am looking forward to some parent training from Indy Dad as my son kicks off his 49er career.

If you work, they can really help you in the training facility at Charlotte. My son was 6' 163 lbs as a freshman. He worked on putting on some muscle during the fall last year but spent most of his time rehabbing his knee. He only weighed 165 lbs last year. This year he worked daily and is now up to 180 lbs. The college training and better food habits can do that for you. Hard work in the off season does pay off. Of course him not having a job in the summer because of training doesn't help his Mom and I!!

    Madison Bumgarner

Madison is currently in Scottsdale (instructional league) with the Giants. Everything seems to be going well, he will make his first start as a pro next week. The only things that he really misses are SWEET TEA and SUNDROP.
Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Best of luck to that Andy Petite-looking-guy. I hope he has a monster year after all he has been through.
In other news, Sam Runion and former South Charlotte Panther rhp, Kyle Greenwalt both cracked Baseball America's top 20 prospect list for the AZL and Appy leagues.

Didn't you leave out his girlfriend. I heard that Madison and his girlfriend are engaged and she is going to graduate early from high school, so she can join him wherever he goes next. I do believe it is true, since it came from another person who spoke to her. I am not sure how I feel about this, but I can see it both ways. If he is going to be homesick for his girlfriend, then maybe this is O.K. It will still be a big adjust. I guess congratulations to Madison on his engagement.

    Pheiffer Baseball

I am kind of new at this but I have a freshman pitcher at Pheiffer. Once I learn all of the players and where they are from I can keep all updated on them.

D-Backs, my oldest son played for you when you started the Diamondbacks from the old Lightning team. Daniel is now at UNCC and out of baseball but his skinny little brother is still playing. He was at a scouts day today at Catawba College was from what I hear did pretty good. Clocked at 89 and was able to keep it in the strike zone (thank goodness). 6'2" 165lbs and still only 17. We are hoping for about 3 more inches and 40 pounds and 5mph. That would be a great addition.
Please keep us updated on Ryan. I remember seeing him the day of the draft at a Legion game, in fact Daniel has the first autographed baseball Ryan signed. Timing is everything.

I moved this post to the Intra-squad scrimmage thread.
I couldn't figure out how to delete the original post though.

Braves, is there a way to delete a post?
