Any suggestions on which scoring software is the best to purchase? Any to stay away from?

I use Dakstats because it has a nice graphical display for webcasting. If you are purchasing it for yourself, it is pricey ($250), however Dakstats does have a program called "Team-up" where they give their software to high school programs for free. Many of the scoreboards are made by Dakstats, and if you have a high feature Dakstats board, there is an interface for the software to upload data to the scoreboard.

Previously to Dakstats, I was using software from a company called Fixedit. I liked the functionality of Fixedit for the various reports I use and are available in the software and are customizable. It is also the same software that I use for Baseball Info Solutions (the data colletion vendor for MLB/MiLB teams). It was only $30 when I first began using it, but just checking I see it now is $60. One nice thing with Fixedit, that once you purchase it, you get lifetime upgrades. Fixedit also comes in a hand held PDA version where you can enter data on PDA and then upload it to your computer.

While both many take a little practice to learn, both are fairly easy to operate, especially if you learn to use hot keys instead of a mouse.

Game Changer is great. it is an apple IPhone or IPod app that is easy to use and best of all free to coaches. Their website is www.gamechanger.io. I went to school with the guy that is leading the development; he is a baseball guy that has put together a great product. Their business model is that the parents can pay a fee to gain access to stats, play by play game updates, or live box scores. The stats are included with the coach setting it up and are great with full compliment of stats including hitting spray charts. We use for all our Core Athletic teams and it is great way to keep up with games for me as I travel between teams.
