Is there a bat that the older/better teams prefer? I know each girl has individual preferences, but am curious to see if one is preferred over another at the "team" level.

I see Catalysts, Synergys, and RocketTechs a lot. I've seen a lot of Worth Quads and Mizunos on TV, but don't see a lot around here. Is there a particular model of these that is presumed to be better than the rest? Do the quality showcase teams from the west coast use the same bats that you see on the east coast?

Do the coaches on TBR have any preferences like that that they are willing to discuss? (particular "power" bats? particular "slapping" bats? etc.....) Ex. I've heard that some folks are particularly partial to the older model RocketTechs (red/black) that first came out a few years ago.

    Hottest "vintage" bats

2004 Rocket Techs were very hot but be dented very easily! I can't imagine many functional ones are still around. Perhaps the hottest bat ever was the original blue Miken Infinity. My DD couldn't quit smiling when she first hit with it as a HS Soph. Eventually snapped in two pieces. In 2005 the yellow -8 catalyst was a monster. Michigan used it and won the 2005 NCAA championship. Banned later that summer. The -10 yellow catalyst manufactured that same year is legal and very hot. I have heard mixed opinions on the new blue catalyst. I'd also consider the new Miken models.

Don't pay too much attention to what you see on TV. Many of the top rung college teams have bat contracts. For example, UCLA is Easton school and Arizona is a Worth school. The players have no choice about bats. They have to use that brand. Miken, for example, is small company with few contracts. That said, in 2003/04 Crystal Bustos used the Miken. Nobody has ever hit softball further.

    Rocket tech

in three years, I've sold over 2000 rt's in this area, 2004 bat was awesome, 2005 was somewhat less. waiting for 2007, three weeks away, have set up some travel teams to demo bat, will let ya know THEIR opinion.

    2004 stamp

NCAA passed new rule. All bats must have 2004 stamp effetive 2008

ASA Certification Seal. (Rule 3-2-a-15, page 46)—Bats must bear the ASA 2004 certification seal to be legal. Goes in effect in 2008. Rationale: This phases out bats that met the older 2000 certification protocol (testing at lower, no longer appropriate speeds).

That will phase out the old RT's, etc...

Worth Quads are great bats.... They are endloaded, which makes them hard for some kids to handle.

nope, dont know who he is, but seems to know his stuff and very positive posts. had already heard that the 04 rt's would not be grandfathered in ncaa, but that's ok. just hope hype about 07 rt's will run true. engineer states that bat will equal preformance of 04. i can only guess now, will know more in 2-3 weeks. have asked that the girls who try this bat post their opinion - good or bad.
