Thought I would start a new thread to see what those close to college players or teams found out the BBCOR bats to be like after they had some time to get used to them.

Better than wood, but not nearly as much pop as the old bats. During App State's three fall world series games, no team scored more that four runs in any game if I remember correctly.

Watched Wingate play team scrimmage last weekend. The score was 15-8. Bats seemed dead but just when you thought that there would be a shot over the fence. 3 maybe 4 HRs and a couple more long shots that maybe with old bats would have been out also. The weird part for me was the sound at contact, almost like wood. I spoke with a friend of mine's son who is playing about it. He said there seems to be a ery small sweet spot where the ball comes off like old bats but otherwise it is similar to using a wood bat.

Barton played with the new bats in their last scrimmage game of the season. They sound more like wood than metal, but they have a little more pop in them than I was expecting. There was still 3-4 homeruns hit. The good hitters will continue to hit well with the new bats. The cheap homeruns might be gone, and probadly the homerun totals overall will go down for everybody. If you've got a crusher on your team, he's probadly still going to hit alot of balls over the fence, just not as many.

My son has been swinging bbcor all fall. he initially complained big time, but about half way though the fall he said that the feel got better. For their world series there we several HR's, but I agree with Karlrocket, the cheapy pop fly HRs will go down. I saw several very hard hit balls into the gaps as well. I think it will be just a matter of getting use to them.

On the other side of the equation---pitchers seems to love them!

Does any manufacturer seem to have an advantage with their bats

I spoke w/ a freshman who used a couple different brands this fall and he seemed to like the Demarini over the Easton.

From some coaches i have spoken too and players, the consensus has been that Easton is the worse.
